I have 2 LPBINs it is just like a record store style. I have 1200 LPs in them.

Ikia storage will sag and fall apart over time. Search the web and see some impressive collapses! the shelves they make are for small trinkets and shit....not 600lps of LPs

But aren't both of those Annick posted turned on the wrong side? The big, long shelve are supposed to be on the ground, right?

those collapsed shelf photos are very funny, you can tell by looking at them that they were incorrectly assembled, where is the top bracer shelf? and they are not anchored to the wall. Only an idiot would put a shelf like that together that way, so they deserve their fate.

Yup, that's right. I haven't seen pictures of collapsed ones on the other side! Good observation!

Also, if you follow the recomandation to bolt them to the wall, a collapse like this is impossible.

Expedit's are stabilized by the weight of whatever you put on it. Those of you who own it know what I'm talking about. It's constructed very well for a cheap furniture from Ikea.

I explored more and did some better research on the subject lately.

Found out that yes, indeed, those 'horror stories' were placed on their sides.

And aftering reading and endless amount of reviews online, there's really only a few cases of these Expedit shelves collapsing, but usually one cause; poor assembly.

Also, if anyone's interested they have the assembly instructions posted on their site. It helped me figure out what kind of small pieces were going to be supporting large amounts of weight.

How many LPs does one "square" in an expedit hold?

Approximately 80. I have 60 in each unit and have 30 on one side and the other 30 on the other so the weight is shared evenly and not slanted.
