Maybe not worship but Drowned - Viscera Terrae sounds damn similar to covenant at times.
Last Degial full length also struck me as pretty MA sounding.

Sound good.Have to check them out.

Covenant is so special and unique,I think it's impossible to be imitated.
Altars has created many copycats,Covenant has not.

Some good MA worship (without second thought or searching)
Coffin Texts (both albums are great)
Drowning (France) (the two full-length)
Diabolic first album
Sadistic Intent (post Resurrection era)

This Lost Soul ''Scream Of The Mourning Star'' is almost zero ''Covenant-style'' - maybe there's like 3 minutes on the whole album that has the Covenant vibe, the rest is pure Angelcorpse, Diabolic, Vader, Krisiun, Rebaelliun,... style of frenetic death metal that is inspired by Morbid Angel. And even those bands have very little of ''Covenant'' in them.

I agree with ''speedevilucifer'' - Covenant is too special, to be imitated. I like this Lost Soul band but I could never compare it to Morbid Angel's Covenant - they are just too wild/frenetic/anxious and with way too little groove/dynamics/songwriting talent to make something as unique and great as Covenant!

Also just discovered hatespawn... The fact that they do a morbid angel cover, on top of taking so much influence from them, would usually make me think "ok... Generic tribute band, next..." But theyre actually really good shit.

I dont know what youre thinking man... Thats full covenant vibe right there. But like i said without being straight copy cats or generic. Listen to the whole album, i think ive listebed to it probably 100,000 times in my life. Mostly the first coule years after the album came out. Still i cant find anything that gets closer to that covrnant album.

There was a thread about Morbid angel inspired bands a while ago, but fuck it: I can't get enough of MA so, every thread about MA inspired bands is welcome!

Anyway, there's a new band called Tehom that released their debut album "The merciless light" this year.
I thought that the releases from Blood Harvest got alot of attention here, but unfortunately that;s not always the case....
