[quote="IXTAB" Great fucking record! I'm not at all into their other recordings, though.[/quote]

You're a very wise man.

I'm not expert but I think the first press simply doesn't have the title on the back cover and their logo is pink.

Shitty pic I found online.

I think this is the one I have. I'll have to take a look.

For me itīs one of the best Metal albums ever! And the decline in quality of Anthrax afterwards is actually mind boggling Laughing

Turns out I have the red logo, red title on back with no barcode. However, Sterling is stamped on the dead wax.

Now that I've pulled this beast out, gotta give it another spin.

weird, I never really knew there was a difference, as the Banzai Records version (Canadian pressing) was the logo in red

Finally could compare the Frankford/Wayne with the Sterling pressing.
For me, the Frankford/Wayne version sounds much better, more balanced and the guitars are more foreground.
With the Sterling version the drums drown the rest of the instruments which ultimately makes the riffs much weaker.

Thanks good to know I'd like to hear a FW press on my set-up now, I'll have to spin this tomorrow.

Would you mind explaining which different pressings exist of "Ride The Lightning"? Are you referring to early pressings from the 80ies and 90ies?

Best RIDE THE LIGHTNING is the early MUSIC FOR NATIONS pressing (either France or UK). It sounds stunning and is the only version with unbutchered backcover (all other pressings have a purple box for the tracklisting, because "For Whom The Bells Toll" was written wrong on the original pressing).

Another option (for a great sound) is the early MEGAFORCE pressing or the 1989 VERTIGO LP (Sterling mastering, MASTERDISK stampers).

Happy hunting Smile

Hey AOD,
You feel the Music for Nations RTL beats the 1st US Megaforce press?
I realize "best" is often subjective of course, different set ups, listening environments and individual hearing taken into consideration.

Yes, for sure. The MFN has more balls and bottom, MEGAFORCE is way too bright for my taste.
