This fucking sucks! I was looking forward to seeing them.

I've been to that venue a few times.
Tom G Warrior said the venue sucks while halfway through the set.

After 3 spins I conclude that Viktoria is a good album.
There are 2 weak tracks, Tiger I and Silent night. The rest rages with lots of energy. There is some really creative riffing here and there. Morgan's riffs are not very interesting most of the time but he really comes through on some songs. Still, for me Marduk is about energy and not about imagination.
A cool no nonsense album with a great stripped down production.

This is weirding me out as I dont like Marduk but this is excellent. I do like Craft but dont like the new one. The fuck is going on? Track two on Victoria is great - I like the growling/screaming choir - good idea. And as someone said - Morgans riffs are not that great but it works just fine here. Great prod too!

Waiting for US DISTRO to get a CD/LP copy before I even listen.

Ehhr, "Vobiscum Satanas" top it to my ears, but all what came after is useless garbage indeed.

Same, VS is the only thing by DF that ever glued to me, great album.

Since i liked (not loved) Secrets i bought Vobiscum as well when it was released. Again in a nice digipak version. Alas,i found the album a weaker version of the debut and ditched it some years later. Maybe iíll try another listen on YouTube;canít remember at all how it sounds.

I thought the album was weak upon the first listen, but after several listens I think it's quite good. Short and furious, and a good addition to their stellar discography. Mortuus really makes this material work. He is just insane.

In Secrets of the Black Arts the main songwriter was Blackmoon (David Parland), and the vocalist was Themgoroth. They left Dark Funeral before the recording of Vobiscum Satanas and went on to make Infernal (superb short-lived band). Lord Ahriman tried to stick with the style Blackmoon had in "Secrets..." and he did a great job in Vobiscum, because the feel is very similar and dark. From then on, Dark Funeral entered their "withering" process. Diabolis Interium has some great songs, as well as Attera Totus Sanctus, but they lack the power and black essence of the first 2 albums. Angelus Exuro was way too much "formulaic" to make every song easily listenable by any newcomer to the genre, and the latest album is like if they tried hard to make a Storm of the Light's Bane Pt.II and of course failed at it musically, but it's making them lots of income. Through the years DF went from completely chaotic power to harmless mainstream sound. The same has happened to Marduk with Viktoria.

I'm surprised at the amount of positive feedback given the band's back catalog. Viktoria stands as mediocre at best in a discography that has some pretty stellar releases (although quite a few weak ones too).

The record reeks of having been recorded for the sake of embarking on another world tour. No depth or replay value to my ears.

After several listen, I must say it's a strong album.
Even Werwolf, which puzzled me at first listen, sounds 10x times better when blasted on stereo and not on computer speakers.

Still stunned that 28 years after the beginning, they are still able to write such straight-to-the-point albums while most of the early BM bands are lost in experimental bullshit or in overproduced generic Metal.

This said, to be honest with myself, I found it sounds a bit like a compilation of leftovers from Frontschwein. Same topics, some riffings are pretty close, I will not bit surprised if we learn someday that most of this material was already written in 2014 and was not used for the previous aLP, which was an incredible beast.

Agree. Most people ignore or does not totally embrace albums at first listen, simply because they do not have the adequate medium to actually listen the music and its nuances.

I was also surprised with MARDUK's latest outcome, however, Frontschwein material is way more stale compared to Viktoria's.

Viktoria is the 2nd mortuus-era album that I deem interesting, 1st one being ROM 5:12.
