I heard plenty of horror story's about the Canadian Postal Service. They treat there packages like shit even if the package is labeled with fragile, and are very unreliable.

So I've heard.

6 CD's to Australia should be around:
First-Class Mail® International Package = 17.00
Priority Mail® International = 32.00
Express Mail® International = 38.00
Global Express Guaranteed = I don't even want to list because it's to ridiculous. As if the other prices are not a rip.

What a Scam.

Not trying to derail this thread, but has anyone else been having problem getting packages from the US to Canada? I've had three packages sent out to me from the US (one from NWN!, the other from someone on this board and one from ebay) in early May and none of them have arrived yet. Now the one from ebay, who knows, but the person on this board and NWN! are obviously more than reliable and I know they both shipped right quick around the 8-10th of May and I still haven't seen anything. For one to get lost, okay, but two at the same time? That'd be quite the fluke.

Is the other one you speak of from me (patch/etc. sales)? I know my packages going to Europe are arriving faster than they are to Canada. Don't you guys have privatized postal service or some shit like that?

Having been ordering very frequently for almost 10 years now, I can't think of any problems I've ever had other than some things occasionally showing up a week or two late, which hopefully is all that's happening here. No real damaged packages to speak of.

Now I have to knock on wood, haha.

No, it's not you. Good to hear it's not just my packages though, haha.

I just noticed this yesterday when mailing some stuff/trades. Almost everything were raised by at least a dollar.

Note: the USPS will be raising the postage rates each year, so that's why I do my part and recycle stamps. Wink

I usually buy cds from a number of vendors in the US who charge postage at cost (usually get global priority). I went to order six cds from Moribund (never used them before) and nearly shit myself at checkout (actually prevented me from going through with the purchase). $33 for airmail postage for six cds to Australia. Fuck me. I imagine they're getting sent with cases, but surely it doesn't cost $33? Others' views on this?

it would cost less than that by first class international (for 6 CDs going to Aussie it would have cost around 17 US bucks) for sure.
they must send all their packages by priority international which is more expensive...

Most of US distros send with cases, so have you asked them to ship without cases??

Of course the day I post this I get my NWN! package... go figure.

Three weeks in the mail from US to Canada though, that's a lot longer than ususal. No complaints as long as I eventually get my shit though...

No I didn't as I pay direct w/cc (no paypal) and the system is automated.

Some places make money off postage. Moribund is probably one of them.
