and now we have two Entombeds and no Dismember!

Pretty much summarizes everything that is wrong with the modern world in one sentence.

Dismember was the greatest band that ever came from Stockholm, even their later stuff is amazing which no other Death Metal band from that era can say. Even though Like an Everflowing Stream obviously is the best one.

I'm really glad I saw them live, what an experience it was, pure raw death metal energy.
In top 5 best DM bands for me, nearly flawless discography.

Like An Everflowing Stream is one of the best death metal albums ever, definitely in the top 20. I have the 2005 candlelight reissue on CD. Their demos are godly as well and of course, there was Carnage.

Saw them in 2006 with Vital Remains and Grave. One of the best live bands I've ever seen. Grave was solid that night, but they didn't come close to matching Dismember.

My fave Swedish DM Band for sure. Solid discography all the way.

The documentary about Dismember on YouTube:

Just too bad Fred Estby was already gone from the band before. I would have liked to see him in there instead of their later drummer.

Would have loved to see them live, one of the greatest of all time.

Dismember were one of the most appreciated DM bands of the nineties. Where does your knowledge come from? They were there "from the start", always touring (with equally well known bands), released many records on Nuclear Blastic, sold hundred thousand + records, were frequently covered in all the biggest Zines and Mags (for decades) and so on..

Just wondering..

Of course, Dismember is great!

They are the founding fathers of Swedeath alongside Unleashed, Entombed (Nihilist), Carnage* and Grave!

ugh... I tried to give hellcast a fair shake, listened to a few dozen eps. terrible... that J-dawg goon is such an ignorant meathead and Reaper gets pretty obnoxious. who forgot about Dismember? Only people too young to have grown up on it and appreciate?

I'm another old bastard. Probably already posted in here. Bought the debut when it was released and it was a very popular album. The band remained popular through the death metal peak. The band also put out one of the best death metal albums of the late 90s (which wasn't the best time for the genre). Easily the best death metal band for me. The debut has hit after hit. I got to see them five times. I think sometimes there is a bit of Metallica/Exodus with Entombed/Dismember due to timing on debuts, though such a conclusion doesn't consider the Carnage album.

Maybe forgotten in todays scene, but definitely would not call them underrated. To me they are the sound of that Swedish scene with Entombed, Grave, Unleashed and Carnage (the latter IMO made the ultimate swedish DM record). They got lots of airtime here and played in front of sellout crowds here every time I saw them. Their debut is sensational and I've always had a weak spot for "Dreaming In Red" ever since I saw that on Headbangers Ball. A pretty solid discography throughout, though nothing beats the debut.
