This is a really strong AOTY contender for me. The guitar tone is perfect -- I get major «Filosofem» vibes from it.

A shame I can't make it to the NYC show tomorrow but this album is great. The first and last tracks are especially strong, but there's really no filler here. And after listening to the whole thing, I think the Rizk production worked out very well, especially for the tracks with choral vox and keys. Looking forward to my preorder arriving.

Rizk did a great job and OT wrote some great songs.

Gave this a hearty piss-soaked listen tonight while I watched MLB playoffs and I thought it was GREAT. First of all, it sounds fucking bad assss. Raw, obscure, organic tones but you can hear all instruments clear as fucking day. Even the hat (super important in this band obv) sounds super shimmery and crisp. As for the songs themselves, classic Akitsa hypnosis interrupted by riff bursts you can chew on for minutes. Chanting vox are cool too.

I did think the Espoir opening riff sounds like "One" by Metallica though lol

Release show was great, despite technical issues. Really pissed-off, bleak shit. Old Tower was more interesting than I expected, too.

Anyone have the set list for Akitsa? I know they played a couple from Credo and Chimeres from Grand Tyrans.

I'm fairly new to the band, so I would also appreciate recommendations where to start digging in their discography.

The first Akitsa album that I like pretty much end to end. Really well written and performed.

Brilliant record! Loved their first one, and a lot of the split material, but they lost me a little over the past few releases (Still definitelty had their moments) but this is bang on the money!!

Really good. I thought the last one was a bit of a misstep but the vast majority of their works are top grade filth. Love this one.

Really impressed with Credo, especially after feeling like I was losing interest with some of the recent releases.

I registered at this forum just to praise this album. Modern black metal doesn't get much better than this. I've had my eyes and ears on Akitsa since La Grande Infamie, but I recently took the time explore the band's earlier works. Goétie impresses me to no end. The strength of black metal is often the atmosphere, and Akitsa has mastered creating music that you can really get lost in. I might have to make a trip up to Canada and catch them live sometime. Seeing them with Peste Noire would be fantastic.
