Filth Pig is another divisive album that I absolutely adore. People will most often mention Crowbar, EyeHateGod and Neurosis whenever the talk turns to sludge, but Filth Pig is by far the heaviest fucking album I've ever heard - clawing, hammering, and scraping it's way through its 54:24 minutes of rusty, drug-fueled depression. My favorite song on the album remains the epic The Fall with it's soothing piano lines at the end. It just gets to me every time.

Quote:
"Everyone hated [Filth Pig]. They all wanted Psalm 70, and I gave them an electronic-free record full of gun-in-mouth dirges of nothing but pain. Aside from the cover art, the humour was gone. All that left was misery. And I still had to tour the fucking thing - which went down in history as the interminable, intolerable, absolutely depraved Sphinctour."

One of my fave albums ever. Pure heroin. The Fall and Filth Pig are some of the tracks of my life.

Speaking of this album, is there by any chance a bootleg of the Sacramento 1996 gig? That's one my favorite gigs ever, here's the playlist with all the songs: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLslWyXlv-xJPvNhq5PzwgK-YidWLy23Tj

But I coulndn't even find an mp3 of this show, so it looks like I'll have to convert it from the YouTube.

Saw them at the Hollywood Palladium on this tour. Epic show to say the least. Played for nearly 3 hours. As for voting, I haven't heard this album in at least 20 years.. will need to revisit to give an opinion.

I will fully admit to being one of those that hated this album when it came out. I remember thinking it was like early Swans/Melvins but not as good. Since a couple of decades have passed I will give it another chance. For the record "The Mind Is a Terrible Thing To Taste" is the best Ministry album not "Psalm 69"..

There’s no other Ministry album as nasty and dark as this one.

Jammed this album recently and I had to turn my bass EQ down cause it was rattling my rear view mirror too much. Heavy as fuck. My fav track will always be filth pig. Also have to mention the crushing depression of the Dark Side of the Spoon. I’m sure the studio was greasy heroin mayhem when these albums were recorded. Definitely an era of music that’s gone forever.

Recently went on a serious Filth Pig jag. Fucking love this album. "Dead Guy" gets my vote. It's simple and kinda dumb, but it's so punchy and pissed.
