Darkness Enshroud - "MALEFICIUM - The Psalms of Diabolus" CD

Darkness Enshroud is a notorious dark ritual ambient entity created by Akhtya Nachttoter (Michael Ford) in 1993 and for the past 26 years has created some of the most chilling, haunting and diabolical dark ambient soundscapes, and this new album carries on this tradition!
"MALEFICIUM - The Psalms of Diabolus" is the essence of Medieval Orthodox Satanism interpreted in this current age as a contrasting balance between myth and black magick centered in the Acasual Metaphysics of Diabolism or Satanism as is an obscure, hidden cultus within the Luciferian Tradition.
Each diabolic hymn, satanic prayer and invocation conceals a deeper meaning which is parallel with the aims of the initiatory experience of Apotheosis in the Luciferian tradition!

The engraving used on the cover is by Jacques Aliamet from 1755, however it was based on artwork done by David Teniers the younger sometime in the 1600s:

Ritual dark ambient is always going to be overlooked by the majority of people on a forum mainly for metal, especially the further Black Metal gets away from it's more serious beginnings.
However there are some who still appreciate such things, especially when they know it is created by a person (or people) who genuinely know what they are talking about.
I personally myself am quite picky with ambient and 90% of it I don't like, but if I know the practitioner behind it has an extensive knowledge of the occult and takes the left hand path seriously and channels it into a sonic medium, then it takes dark ambient to another level as it reflects in the music and it stirs something greater within myself (or the listener) and I end up loving that music.
Darkness Enshroud since "Unveiled Ghostly Shadows" has always been one of those few dark ambient projects which I find truly eerie and have always liked a lot and respected.
I feel the same about Black Metal, you can tell when something feels genuine or when something is hollow, and when it's genuine it takes you else where, when it's hollow you can listen to it in the background but it does nothing to your spirit.

I would rather release something genuine that doesn't appeal to many people than release some soulless emulation that would be lapped up by the masses (which there is no shortage of).

Listening to this project with other similar ones from USA like Profane Grace and early Equimanthorn, since the 90's. Black ambient we called them back then and I was always fond of this style. Glad to see this project back from the dead in the recent years.

It was much better when it was just M. Ford.

I strangely enough picked up Equimanthorn from what seemed like a very normal news paper stall on the side of the road when I lived in Greece for a few months in 2004. There were just these piles of cardboard on the side of the street wrapped in cling wrap and each one had 4 CDs wrapped against the cardboard for 5euros. The one I grabbed had Equimanthorn, Maniac Butcher, Nhaavah and Malicious Onslaught in the one pack (but there were quite a few variations). All Unisound releases. Was just very strange to randomly see on the side of the road in Xanthi one day haha - but that was my introduction to Equimanthorn.
