okay.

so I could be completely drunk here, but I remembered downloading this album years and years back off of Soulseek and it sounding totally different. What did it for me was hearing the D side of this album and the offered demos - specifically the 'Sepulchral Bonfire' demo. It's about the same track length as the MP3 album I have and remarkably close the the sound minus some obvious demo mastering/production...so I figured this is one of those classic albums that ended up having a slower mix due to some bad copying or duplication. Went back and took a look and yep, every single song in the MP3 album is shorter than what is listed online and the LP. But 'shorter' isn't the right word, just 'sped' properly.

speed it up to 1.25x and see how my version sounds for yourself and compare it with the demo:

The "North Winds" demo will be reissued on tape format later this year. More info later. No remaster actually, band did not find this necessary.

Will be out on Messe Noire Productions (DE).

bumping this because I refuse to believe this is 10 pages long and I'm the only person who had an opinion on the sound of the fucking record and I need answers

Your theory seems plausible but regardless if it's slowed down or not, it seems like the album is being presented the way the band intends. If not, why wouldn't they have released the proper version by now?

If your turntable has pitch control it's pretty easy to correct yourself anyway.

There is also a double CD coming out on Hammerheart that has 13 bonus tracks, supposedly including some unheard stuff...
