It says "Minimal black metal from Bay Area. Debut recording" I assume it's their debut album since eeverything else has been e.p.s, splits and demos. |

Will be interesting to hear if there is any difference in the album as a whole, overall, compared to their previous releases (ie, non-full lengths). |

super raw. fuckin' treble fest. i hear lots of people compare them to ildjarn, but while i see where they're coming from i think bone awl is more "basic" and "lo-fi" than ildjarn. the new lp slays pretty hard, definitely a good place to start if you've never heard them, although in my not at all humple opinion "not for our feet" is where the fuck it is at with them. i have dents on the roof of my car from punching the ceiling of it to that tape. best bone awls riffs for sure.
it was funny, checking out the lp today, i was thinking that it reminded me of a crass lp with the big poster and what not and then the music starts and i was like, "shit, you could even say this sounds like a super raw crass record", but then the vox kick in.........................
goatlord lps are my favorite goodies of the day though. DOOOOOOOM. |

Wow, it's been almost a week since the new vinyl has been out and this is the first time anyone besides me has mentioned anything other than the Bone Awl. |

That's what I thought when I first heard them. Like I said though, I only heard a few samples so it's really a pretty vague comparison. I'm not really into Ildjarn that much either, but I find his riffs to be more mesmerizing. Overall, I think Ildjarn displays more of a menacing, more violent sound. It has that nasty edge to it whereas Bone Awl have almost a punk vibe to their sound. Again, this is based on the samples I've heard.
Also, I can't imagine anything being more lo-fi and basic than the self-titled Ildjarn album. Have you ever listened to anything off that? I'd be interested in checking out any Bone Awl material that stands up to anything off of there. |
