technics are pretty cool, im using my girlfriends tech quartz till i get my needle. it sounds good, with a ortofon stylus its just some frequencies are actually missing after listening to records on the b and o for so many years.
weird but total true. the other thing about factory balanced tone arms is since vinyl has different weight, sometimes the needle skates weird on the records especially slighty warped records, hence the sound. but on the b and o you can balance the tone arm and adjust the weight so that warped records sound perfect. |

| I got the same turntable as masters_throne + a couple of JVC speakers and a 12 inch subwoofer at my feet. |

| Slight off-topic...BUT...is replacing a belt a pain in the ass? I just got my hands on a free Technics SL-B3. Only thing wrong with it is that the belt had crumbled apparently. Never replaced one, so I'm wondering if I should get rid of my inferior record player for this one and just replace the belt. |

I have a Roksan Xerexes Turntable which is just amazing plus Denon dl 103-r MC cartridge and Primare I.30 amplifier, been into tubes for a long time but got slightly upset with frequent tube replacements, so I sold my monoblocks. I recently installed the abovementioned Denon cartridge so it's gonna serve at least five years till next 300 usd pit stop. Metal needs MC cartridges (no possibility of separate stylus replacement, need to buy new cartridge) thats the bitter truth. point. No MM cartridge matches selectivness of MC reproduction.

Cost me about 1500$ some years ago. I changed the stylus once.
The clever HI-FI people I know says normaly you need to change it after 1000-1500 hours playing time, depending on the stylus and the condition of the LPs (old beat up vinyls = shorter living-time on the stylus). |
I bought this one a year ago after spending over a decade with the same Sony turnable and same needle. I'm pretty satisfied with the P3 and I sincerely do think that it has been a great choice _________________ But I noticed nothing dangled between his legs. Which would be a good turntable for beginners? (in terms of complexity of set-up, soundwise and maintenance) _________________ Looking for DEATH METAL bands!
