Courtesy of Brooklyn Vegan.

I mean, I kinda expected this from them. Glad to see In Solitude's newest that high on the list.

the fact that Opeth is #2, and Absu even made the top 40 should say everything you need to know.

I hate this magazine more and more as times goes on. Their review (that was otherwise overwhelmingly positive and had a high score) of the last Inquisition album opened up calling them "black metal clowns", which I think typifies their attitude.

Exactly. Bunch of hipster beardos regarding the metal underground as a novelty to up their hip points. No surprise then that the list is almost entirely stupid beardo shit.

YES. I had never read this rag before.but I grabbed a free copy of that issue at MDF this year for something to read on the plane. Never read another page of the thing after reading the Inquisition piece.

I think the latest Absu is pretty fucking good, though.

Well, Decibel caters to metal as a whole, not just what people who frequent this forum listen to. They are the ONE major metal publication in the US now, so obviously they are going to cover as much of the scene as they can, which unfortunately, means "stupid beardo bands," because that stuff is extremely popular.

I know for a fact that several of the people on staff there are not just hipster trend followers, but dudes like us who like metal the same way we do.

Would I agree with their picks? Not at all. But do they cover bands we all like? Yes. Do I read Decibel? Yes. Do I like all of what they cover? No.

Quit whining. It seems more and more metal fans just want to talk endless shit instead of just supporting the music they like and ignoring the rest.

I USED to hate this magazine, then I began to feel unthreatened once I realized they are so out of touch. it would be unfortunate if they actually wrote about bands that weren't total beardo bullshit, but this is not the case, so in a sense I am thankful for this list. especially since its a larger publishment. certainly dont need any more competition on "limited releases" (lolz)

Yep. That's all they cover. ONLY hipster bands. Ever. Always.

Not supporting Decibel = not supporting the music you like? Right. This mag consistently hypes up garbage and is afraid to actually promote and help build an audience for new metal bands. This list is evidence of that. So why don't you try and look like less of a white knighting faggot by letting people laugh at the stupid thing?
