I think the most popular one is better. People says that the "very rare vinyl mix" is good only cause this is more rare. Nothing more.

One song is missing from the more widely available version. That already makes it less appealing for me. I made a tape with both so I can play them back to back.

"After the Deluge" is an okay song, but the version of the album it appears on sounds too tentative in terms of the band's performance. The Metal Blade version (also the one Steamhammer put on the split CD with "In the Sign of Evil") is clearly the more solid session. Its strange Sodom didn't bother to rerecord AtD for it...or they decided to leave it off (I don't know which was the case).

That said, I have an ObC cassette exactly like Yosuke's...

I guess it has something to do with that they had a different guy playing guitars on that song who was tested as being a future live guitarist. On the SODOM DVD they interviewed him and he said after that recording he noticed he canīt play that stuff and they skipped the idea. Probably they didnīt bother to record that song with Destructor since they needed to practice it with him. Probably a time issue....

I like them both, but I like the clearer sounding one for exactly that reason. Nice and crisp.

Hells Headbangers has a cool bootleg CD of the better-produced version along with a differently-mixed version of In the Sign of Evil and a 3-song rehearsal from 1985. It's on a Japanese label called Kamikaze Products. Check it out: http://shop-hellsheadbangers.com/item.asp?PID=5706

This is a bootleg that this Chilenean guy Volve (of Keltic recds) released some time ago. Definitely it is not japanese. Other boots he has done are Violent Force, Exorcist, Original Sin, etc

Regardless where it's actually from (I was just going by the address that's on the back of it), it looks good... far more effort put into it than the CD Steamhammer put out. Lyrics, old photos, even the cover of the album and EP look better on it.

The album without "ATD" is actually the first recorded one.
