Hammer of Hate new releases February 2012:

FÖRGJORD: Sielunvihollinen CD/shirt
"The third full-lenght of FÖRGJORD brings forth a new opus of freezing Finnish Black Metal. It's been 4 long years since their magnificent 'Ajasta Ikuisuuteen' album and 'Sielunvihollinen', translating as 'Soul Nemesis', continues with the same combination of inventive melodies and raw soundscape, accompanied with harsh vocals spitting forth Finnish lyrics of hatred, anti-christianity, lycanthropy, death and the spirit of proud Finnish nationality. Förgjord also brings some new elements their music with the help of guest musicians' performance with kantele and synth. The long process of creating 'Sielunvihollinen' has definitely been worth the wait and is a definite must for all those bewitched by Förgjord's previous works as well as for new listeners who enjoy quality Finnish Black Metal in it's most cold and shredding form!”

Sample songs:

Musta Lintu

Sudeksi Syntynyt

Comments from the press:

“Far from a household name, Förgjord are nevertheless one of the most underrated and original of Finnish BM bands. Their ambitious mix of styles is at odds with the resolutely lo-fi, tinny, old-school production they favour. Their sound is hard to summarise accurately, but it’s something akin to a tenth-generation copy of a NWOBHM demo tape as recreated by early DARKTHRONE. Sielunvihollinen is every bit as rough as that description suggests, but there is something hugely invigorating about Förgjord’s style. One of the things that has always been great about the band is that, despite their apparently no-frills, primitive approach, they have never shied away from adding seemingly anomalous elements such as fragile, poignant piano or (in the intro ‘Suokaste’) folky flute to the old-school metal riffs and rasping rawness. This makes for an unpredictable, effective, and very distinctive sound. If you have yet to experience the band, this is as good a place to start as any; if you’re already a convert, this is another worthy album in an impressive discography” – Zero Tolerance [5/6 rating]
“Very interesting, and truly a band worth re-discovering” – VoicesFromTheDarkside.de
“This is basically one of the most frost-tinted, grimy black metal sounds you're going to hear this year, though not lacking for variation. Traditional tremolo melodies are alternated with thrashing palm mute sequences and cruising punk-based proto-black chords that borrow from the Norwegian greats DARKTHRONE in style and substance. The rasped and forked mantras of Prokrustes Thanatos casts Finnish incantations and evil through the sub-zero night of the stripped down atmosphere, and the whole thing sounds like the band were rehearsing outdoors…quite an engaging and unpleasant sliver of wintry chill nonetheless. Even at its most tranquil, there is no warmth. Only misery and spite; icy tongues that lick the listener's ears while injecting poison into his soul. Unforgiving” – From the Dust Returned webzine
“Come off as masters of mood swings…still a very raw and harsh sounding record, just like, I am sure, the duo behind Forgjord intended it to be. Its main attributes, however, may not be just brutal, filthy, melancholic or melodic, but be all of those things at the same time, and combine them into the bipolar mixture of their own” – Metalreviews.com
“I associate their sound with movement. One gets the impression of ascending and descending levels, or the ebb and flow of a sea. It would be better listened on a walk. There is enough diversity to place each track on its own plane, and an overall sense of triumph and overcoming feeling in the record. And the effect that the band was not just making this for others but purely for themselves” – CvltNation.com
“Dirty, filthy, raw black metal from the Land of the Thousand Lakes, Förgjord's Sielunvihollinen is a tour de force in chaos and evil. Musically, the album falls under the rubric of raw black metal. Utilizing the power of primitive riffage and tremolo picking, this release should definitely be right up the alley of any fan of the genre. Despite the hateful rawness of this album, there is actually plenty of melody to this album…dedicated fans of black metal are bound to love it for its hateful and raw quality” – Seaoftranquility.org
“The dark and hopeless landscape of this album is transmitted sublimely by the guitar and drums working together to create a depressive yet expressive soundscape unlike any other out there at the moment” – The Mayfair Mall webzine

Release date 24th of February 2012.

Available for pre-orders now for 10 euros including shipping worldwide, price will be regular after 24th:

FÖRGJORD: Sielunvihollinen CD

NATTFOG: Mustan Auringon Riitti CD/shirt
After the promising demo and splitLP with Nekrokrist SS, NATTFOG present their debut full-length 'Mustan Auringon Riitti' (The Rite of the Black Sun) through Hammer of Hate. Nattfog originate from the southern shores of Finland tormented by icy seawinds. Their style can easily be connected to the masterful Finnish Black Metal sound in the vein of SATANIC WARMASTER, SARGEIST, HORNA, GOATMOON with a raw yet melodic approach, genuine underground Black Metal.

'Mustan Auringon Riitti' is full of melancholic soundscapes but with a strong sense of proud warspirit, much like is the nature of a typical Finnish man. The lyrics of 'Mustan Auringon Riitti' deal with a strong occult theme and old Northern/Scandinavian mythologies with a sense of national pride. The debut of Nattfog will definitely not go unnoticed and strenghtens the already well-known Finnish underground Black Metal excellence.”

Sample songs:

Path of the White Wolves

Mieleni Mustissa Merissä

Comments from the press:

“Raw melodic black metal horde Nattfog spit forth their debut album with all the hate, spite, hubris, and vitriol that they can muster. With an unusual sound that sets the vocals back, echoing behind the instruments, these Finns draw on their countrymen in SARGEIST and SATANIC WARMASTER while also developing a trademark sound of their own…Nattfog have managed to avoid belching out a sorry genre photocopy, and there is a quality to their songs and a uniqueness to their sound that is gratifying and healthy for the Finnish black metal scene” – Zero Tolerance [4.5/6 rating]
“Simplistic guitar passages drudge along in dense, escalating structures of tension through which the carnal rasps continuously stretch and flow, and there's a corpulent sense of sadness and fell glory throughout the duration of the debut which creates a greater whole than its riffs, vocals or musicianship alone might cultivate… The resonant, resilient rasp of the vocals has more in common with HORNA's mid period than the suicidal shrieking of BURZUM. When it all gels together with the raw, crashy drumming, streaming BATHORY melodies and thick bass lines in the surge that is ‘Reaching to the Stars,’ you begin to witness Nattfog at its best… A 43-minute torrent of sorrow and antipathy which accumulates on the listener's conscience like cold rain on a poncho and hat, burying him or her in a formidable tide of antiquated tears” – From the Dust Returned webzine
“It is those unmistakably Finnish cool rustic, folky swampy riffs which went into the foundation of this record, and the duo of Destruction and Adelwolf play them over and over again to have those riffs engrained onto every fiber of your body by the time the album is over…If you are into melodic black metal, Finnish-style Mustan Auringon Riitti is an immediate draw…Unlike some more poppish Finnish acts, like CATAMENIA, Nattfog is a lot closer to more archaic-sounding bands, like THY SERPENT, with an occasional moment of both HORNA and OCTOBER FALLS” – MetalReviews.com
“Musically quite interesting. Rather than opting for high-speed blasting chaos, their style is mid-paced and actually quite melodic, and melancholy is the main ingredient. There is something hauntingly drawing about the music, even if it is not especially technically advanced…Drawing on repetition, tense harmonies and tremolo picking (blastbeating is pretty much absent, though), this release definitely observes the conventions of the black metal ethos, and you can even add harsh, atmospheric echo-laden vocals and a quite raw production…Fans of depressive and melancholic black metal should definitely check this release out” – Seaoftranquility.org
“Very refreshing to hear…[the vocals being trapped behind the instruments] sets these guys apart instantly” – The Mayfair Mall webzine

Does Vulcanic Sacrilege still do vocals in Nattfog?

Metal Archives says that some Adelwolf is doing vocals on the album. Or is that just a new name taken by Vulcanic Sacrilege?

I think it's the same person but with a different name. There hasn't been line-up changes for what I know but not 100% sure of course..
