I'm not a huge NWOBHM fan, though I still listen to a fair share of bands. but I always preferred the US Metal sound.
in total time spent the genre I listen to most is doom, in all the "true" incarnations from Solitude Aeturnus to The Obsessed. I don't like genre mixtures in doom, except for a good amount of classic death doom and some select bands that cultivated very unique styles. I can't tolerate black doom mixtures, except for Faustcoven, who are in a totally different league. I am allergic to stoner, drone, post-rock or jam band vibes. that stuff can be heavy or whatever, but it kinda stops being metal for me (more importantly I get bored). I have problems seeing Electric Wizard as a metal band for example. love 70s heavy rock, hate most of the contemporary worship bands that get lumped in with doom bands. _________________

Man that's one of Ice T's worst albums even with the Sabbath sample. His early shit is fucking unlistenable.
OG still holds up for me though |

OG still holds up for me though | Body Count was a cool album- during its day - it was shicking- Cop Killer !! ICE T is a huge sabbath fan ... he has mentioned that on countless interview.
Forbidden - had a very heavy sound and it was raw - Iommi says they recorded that very fast like the old days... If u can get past the horrible cover and cheesiness of ICE t- it is not that bad- The Illusion of Power is actually a doomy track and is kinda cool.... I would say dehumanizer is there best album after the MOB rules. with Eternal IDOL finishing a close second - that was some good Epic Doom Metal -- the deluxe edition with the alternate album (ray gillen vocals) was amazing re-issue - some real cool stuff (beats the bootlegs)... Rumor has it the IRS ablums would get re-issued - but with Tony's cancer - I wonder if it is gonna happen,,,,? |

Haha, NWOBHM and Doom Metal are my favorite genres along with other Heavy Metal and Black Metal. I had a phase where I'd only listen black metal for like 90% of the music I listened but now heavy metal is really the most in my player.
Yeah, I do like death and thrash, but they haven't impressed me THAT well as those other genres. _________________

Not even the rhyme where he raps about Charlie Jamm fucking a freak on a ski lift? Ten below and still giving her the dick? It was cold and she said quit? Charlie Jamm said bullshit? Honestly... Some people... _________________

I actually liked the artwork of "Forbidden"! The only reason I gave it a listen back then, but couldn't stand it longer than the first track, though. |

I have read some interesting point of views. I have encountered quite a large number of metalheads who seem to follow extreme metal in their late teens to early 20s and then as they get older they seem to start appreciating more the traditional heavy metal & doom oriented metal. It's not something I can vouch for since I was mostly always more interested in nwobhm, doom metal, us heavy/power/epic metal etc. Not that I don't listen to death or black metal since I love bands such as early Mayhem, Denial of God, Destroyer666, Possessed, Dissection, early Satyricon, Nifelheim, Tribulation, Morbus Chron, Carcass, Divine Eve, Winter and more. Not really a fan, as many have stated, of the stoner thing. Also, as a fan of Doom I could never appreciate Electric Wizard. Also never really gotten into the Funeral Doom style. I find it really uninspiring but I guess it's the type of music you have to be in the mood for to really appreciate.
Loved the fact a number of you mentioned Blood Farmers. One of my Top 5 Doom bands. Also I would like to mention Pagan Altar, Witchfinder General, Trouble, Pentagram, St.Vitus, Solitude Aeturnus, Sorcerer, Solstice, Forsaken (my fellow countrymen), Reverend Bizarre, Doomsword, Candlemass. Special mention to the whole italian 'occult/horror' doom bands like The Black, Paul Chain, Black Hole, Zess and the 'newer' bands such as Abysmal Grief, Impero delle Ombre, Hands of Orlac, Black Oath. I think that as far as darkness and mysticism comes none can compare to the feel that these italian doom bands can deliver. _________________ "Spitting in the face of mainstream music"
