For all the black metal fans who are into it because of the supposed ideology and philosophy behind it, I hope you realize that you picked the philosophical equivalent of a crayon drawing by a 3 year old, especially considering mankind's philosophical predecessors.
Anyway, I think that most people realize that black metal ISN'T a philosophy, but a subculture of semi-like-minded individuals who agree in principal with very basic philosophical ideas written by black sheep philosophers and idealists. The only real constant in the subculture is the music.
Regarding topic. I love both.
Like NWOBHM more than traditional doom metal, but doom mixed with a little fuzzy stoner vibe is right on par for me. Doom/NWOBHM crossbreed is the king. _________________

I'm a really big doom metal fan. Some of my favourite bands of the genre are always mentioned. In the other hand, I never was "really" interested in NWOBHM. I only listen to the classic stuff, Maiden, Venom, Angel Witch etc. |

Doom Metal? Great! I love this genre. So many great bands e.g. Solitude Aeturnus, Revelation, Saint Vitus, Trouble, Sorceror, Mirror of Deception, Las Cruces, Last Chapter, Blood Farmers, Officium Triste, Skepticism, Thergothon, Novembers Doom, Ataraxie, Forsaken, Esoteric, Mournful Congregation etc. etc.
NWOBHM - some great bands and releases in this genre as well. problem I have is theamount of releases that get labelled as NWOBHM but turn out to be nothing more than boogie rock etc. _________________ Wart-encrusted sebaceous growths

That's because the NWOBHM was a movement and not a genre. _________________ TOTAL SUPPORT TO BLASPHEMOUS LUST |

The first time I got to see Sabbath was during the Dehumanizer tour when they were in Oakland. What an amazing show I'll never forget. I think it was the last show on the tour, the next gig was in the LA area when Dio left and Rob Halford filled his spot for that 1 gig.

surprised I missed this topic when it was fresh,
I probably listen to, and pay attention to, Doom (in particularly Traditional) more than any other genre of Metal these days |

I respect doom and heavy metal, but I don't listen to much of it. Traditional bands like Saint Vitus, Pentagram, Iron Maiden, and Mercyful Fate. Modern bands like Cathedral, Electric Wizard, Reverend Bizarre, In Solitude, and Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats. That's really as far as I go...
... yeah, I don't even dig Black Sabbath. I apologize in advance. |
