i remember seeing a really badass Powerslave bootleg shirt for sale on the street in Athens. the Eddie design was huge and the colors were off (orange, etc) but it looked awesome.

the last time i went to berlin, was wearing a jacket with slayer slaytanic wehrmacht patch. people didn't seems to mind, despite me shopping in kadewe. but had i realized how sensitive this issue is, most likely i will not wear that jacket...

You're going to Europe for the first time and that is what you worry about? Wearing black metal shirts? Leave your fashion sense at home and focus on other things: history, culture, meeting new people, nature, ...

By the way, I don't understand people whose wardrobe consists of largely of metal wear, since most band shirts are so ugly and all ... Laughing

UK is pretty good if you avoid expensive shops. If you're going to Camden I'd suggest looking in the market area as there are stalls that sell some damn good records. There's a small record store that sells an absolute TON of old heavy metal vinyl. Seen so many Iron Maiden, Slayer and other 7" singles and EPs, as well as the LPs on wax. Avoid Resurrection Records shop, it's so costly. Go for the stalls.

In general, visit places like Cambridge, Oxford Street (despite the cost!), and go for a damn walk in the countryside. Really is damn lovely if you go away from built up areas.

Planning on a trip to Europe in a couple months, will go to the UK first but I'll escape to Germany and Italy as soon as the Olympics starts.

Any info regarding sites with dates of events and gigs in those areas will be appreciated. I'm mainly interested in metal, I don't want to end up attending the next Regina Spektor concert. Stuff like wittr or neofolk are ok tho.

Also, is it ok to wear black metal shirts in Germany? Nothing swastyka-related, but I have some satanic warmaster/totenburg/absurd ones and I usually don't pay them any attention once I put them on. I heard there's a really strict policy about some bands. At least on eBay ololo.

tell me when you plan to come to italy and i can tell you which gigs are scheduled.

place to visit in italy: almost eveything. Piemont is very good for landscapes, mountains and red wine... be more precise about what you are interested in visiting: historical stuff (which period? WWII and ancient romans are not the same), arts and museum, sea, lakes, mountains, whatever....

Mainly history and art - landscape is of course also appreciated but I already have lakes in my area Laughing Not particularly fan of the WWII, would love to the see more from the ancient times, coliseum, aqueducts, etc, also Florence, Venice, Rome of course...
I booked the flight yesterday, I'll be going around the June 30 :/ Guess I'll bump the thread when it's closer to that date Razz

THIS, thank you.

Btw. leave out Bremen (ugly city besides the historical market site) and focus on the historical sites (those not having been bombed by the allies) and the museums over here. and don't forget to visit the south of germany too with more attractive landscape than in the north (unless you like it "plane").

Depends.

I wouldn't walk around in full Nazi gear in Switzerland either. It's not explicit forbidden here, but there's an "Anti-Racism-Law" that is widely applicable depending on the situation.

Especially in "bigger" cities like Zürich or Geneva not only are there many immigrants which are way more violent than the locals, also the "normal" people will generally think you're an asshole.

If you walk around in "regular" Metal style, you won't get beef but people will still think you're an asshole.

Good one!
Bremen is ugly as hell, indeed.
I'd say that every European country has loads of places worth travelling to. I favour the Netherlands ( no pot smoker, Don't need whores ). Huge culture, nice people ( as long as they don't know your're from Germany, haha ) and a beautiful coast.

I've really enjoyed Switzerland as well as cities like Brussels, Strasburg, Dresden, Munich, Prague, Slazburg and Florence

Recommend you get a Eurail pass. Then you can go wherever you want when you want. Just watch out for the required train bookings in France. Had to sit in Dijon for 6 hours hungover with no sleep on a public holiday because I underestimated this.

LOL!

Switzerland is in my plans, Netherlands is maybe a bit too much to the north. No intention to make those kind of "a city a day" tours, would like to spend at least 4 or 5 days on each one.

Oh, and Bremen is for family/ancestors/heritage/whatever. Would stay there 2 days or less if it's that ugly Confused
