I must admit, I am a new fan of BEHEMOTH. I knew the name for a long time, as far back as the mid 90's, but didn't "hear" them until maybe 11 yrs ago AND didn't become an actual fan until like 1 year ago!
Having heard all of the early BM stuff and onto what they became over time, I have come this conclusion about them - BEHEMOTH were never that good at Black Metal and are a million times better as a Death Metal band.
The vocals are better now, the riffs are better now, the musicianship is way better since they went Death Metal too in my opinion.
Anyone else agree? Disagree?
They could be one of the only bands in Metal's history to change genres so successfully....aside from Pantera of course.
One of my friends told me if I did hear BEHEMOTH when they were a BM band, that would be my fave era of theirs, but I do not agree at all. I just didn't find their BM to be nearly as amazing as their DM stuff. _________________ We Are Satan's Generation And We Don't Give A Fuck! |

I am of the same opinion. I never really got into their early black metal stuff. On the other hand, they seem to be a bit stagnant and formulaic on the last few albums. Their best material is Pandemonic Incantations through Demigod. _________________ http://sethbennettillustration.blogspot.com/ - Artwork and graphic design

I think Behemoth's music is mostly middle of the road (early or recent). I agree that the more they put out the more bland it gets. But they are such nice guys I never want to say anything bad about them. _________________

Totally agree. The last 2 albums are really boring. My only gripe with Demigod is the sterile production. |

| I got the CD for Pandemonic Incantations and it didn't do anything for me so I decided to check out their early stuff so I downloaded Pagan Vastlands and Sventevith and I liked those a bit better. Then Satanica came out and I watched the video for Decade of Therion and at that point I no longer had any interest in this band new or old. |

Demigod is great riffs with terrible production. Shave off 10 grand from the recording budget and it would have been excellent. Not a fan of much other recent Behemoth, Sventevith will always be my personal choice _________________ Ignivomous merch: abaddon_963[at]hotmail.com

I'm surprised more people don't rave about the Demonica comp.

It's a really great package.
Other than that i like bits and pieces of their material. _________________ "If noise means uncomfortable sound. Then pop is noise to me" - Masami Akita. |

I like a couple of songs off Demigod but other than, they kinda bore me to tears. Pretty good live band though. Tight as fuck. _________________ www.facebook.com/chtheilist - Finnish-Style Old School Death Metal

I find Behemoth's music boring and generic. Too modern and polished. Not my cup of tea (I am a coffee drinker anyway). _________________ https://www.facebook.com/dodkvlt |

This.
My favorite song by them is Moonspell Rites tho :/ Still their early, black years were never that good.
BTW what happened to Nergal? _________________ 14 / 88 = 0.159090909...
