Come on, that's just the way he is. He doesn't pretend to be anything/anyone else but he himself. So, I don't see what in this article makes him a prick now if he wasn't one before? He has always been arrogant and self-righteous, and why should he not? Compared to 99% of every other Black Metal-band or fan alike, he can show off with some "evil deeds" at the very least.

I think he went too far in this one, trying to be badass to the max. His incredible adventures in Iraq sounds like big lies to me (he saved an european from drowning, at 8 years old ?? and the guy with the axe, lol...). He would have been killed by Breivik on this island, for sure. And it is easy when you leave in your farm to give lessons to the whole world. And I must admit I don't like the way he spit on black metal since few years, and try to say he never changed/was always like that. |

Agreed. The fact that the law is against defending yourself properly (by incapacitating the attacker) in a situation where someone is trying to harm you/kill you is ridiculous. Suddenly you're the assaulter and the criminal.

If you look at the Nefandus thread where everyone (can't remember if you posted there but this is about the general attitude) said "the second they turn into dads they turn into hippies that abandon the black metal attitude."

That said, he is an interesting study in parroted banter.

Indeed, the irony is delicious. He had a good plan once - fade into obscurity and release a record every now and again. Instead he's done the complete opposite. And why is he still pretending to live in Norway when every man and his dog knows he's escaped to France? The whole thing is a sorry farce. I tell you something else too, I used post on RPG forums and there was this guy on one forum, who ended up with everyone there thinking he was a complete cock, arguing with everyone about the most trival of things. He sounded framiliar, so I PM'd him and asked him if he was from Norway. He was. I asked if he was VV, he went silent. Didn't get a chance to investigate further (oh really!) because he was booted off the thing a few days later, but the user name later matched he new Vikernes. So all this bitching and wibbling about not being online, not having facebook, not doing this or that, living in Norway, just makes the guy look like a fucking teenage gonad. Man the fuck up or better still - stick to the orignal plan and fade into the background. Release your books, your booklets your records, but making a constant cock of yourself isn't doing thy message any good. |

After I interviewed him (if you can call it that) last year he emphatically stated that he hates, detests Facebook and all social media, but that FB page is most certainly HIM or at the very least overseen by him. What the fuck is the problem with assigning some sort of basic humanity to himself by joining we lowly minions in the real world? His antics were funny when I was reading about him back in '92 and such; now it's sad in a way.
That said, I must agree with him about the self-educated aspect; I can relate on all levels to this. The best teacher in life is the self; you can learn facts and figures from teachers and study, but the best educator is hidden inside when you choose to study that which is relevant and engaging. That's just my opinion.

Agreed on all counts. Thing with the FB and forums etc is it just makes him look like a fucking spastic because it doesn't take a genius to join the few dots that he's littered all over the place. He's even got his own personal FB page too, besides that Burzum page. It's only a matter of time before he lands in Metal forums. The moaning about the media yet doing countless interviews too. It's farcical. This and VON.
He still makes intelligent and well articulated points, but the circus just takes away from it all. |
