OUT NOW!
Wrathprayer “The Sun of Moloch: The Sublimation of Sulphur’s Essence, Which Spawned Death and Life” LP and Pic LP
ANTI-GOTH 206 / COMMAND 005
Released in conspiracy with Ross Bay Cult
Black vinyl regular version:
Picture disc die hard version + Patch:
12" faux leather patch for die hard:
Red vinyl wholesale version:
Wrathprayer are among those bands for which their work is an extension of a broader philosophical and metaphysical aesthetic. “The Sun of Moloch: The Sublimation of Sulphur’s Essence Which Spawns Death and Life” is the full title of the band’s debut LP and conveys the atmospheric density surrounding the work within. The band’s excellent “In Utter Darkness” demo cast a broad shadow across the underground upon its release in 2009. Wrathprayer avoided the temptation of forgoing quality in the name of capitalizing upon the interest generated by their demo preferring, instead, to move slowly and deliberately in the preparation of their debut album. As a result of this effort, “The Sun of Moloch” represents an exceptional merging of artistic visions and far exceeds the quality of the demo. Recognizing Black Metal’s propensity for spiritual depth as opposed to its tendency toward antagonistic angst, Wrathprayer attempt on this album to achieve something grander than mere recitation of their music. “The Sun of Moloch” carries with it the weight of ceremony. Even the minor imperfections left in the recording evoke a sense of trance and chaotic abandon rather than ineptitude. Wrathprayer perfectly balance the simplistic evil of their sound with a sophisticated and intricate ability to conceive songs. Each riff woven together into a composite whole and each song, in turn, fitting together to create a ghastly image. It is also clear that Wrathprayer understand the virtue of presenting their music in a suitable context. To that end, the band retained the services of two of the most important artists active in the underground at this time. The cover art, executed by the inimitable Denis Forkas, is arguably among the most impressive pieces to ever adorn any metal album. Two additional exquisite etching pieces by Manuel Tinnemans are also included with this album, the packaging of which is every bit as powerful as the sonic manifestations possessed within. Hallucinatory revelation as the blade caresses flesh in ritualistic embrace. The regal Sun of Moloch burns the blood-drenched soil.

Dimentianon “Collapse the Void” LP
ANTI-GOTH 215
With their 2010 recording entitled “Collapse the Void,” Dimentianon delivered their best work to date. Notwithstanding the fact that Dimentianon have been recording superb music for that past decade, very little is spoken about this band. This vinyl edition of “Collapse the Void” will hopefully draw them well-deserved attention. Dimentianon, like perhaps most contemporary extreme metal bands, straddle the line between Black and Death metal. In contrast to the primitive and raw sound that has become the norm for most Black/Death, Dimentianon, on the other hand, play highly technical and well-recorded music more akin to Death Metal, but cover it with a veneer of Black Metal. There are few bands to which Dimentianon may be compared, but a band like Bloody Sign may provide a guidepost by which Dimentianon’s sound can be assessed. The five songs on this mLP are captivating as Dimentianon demonstrate their unique ability cover vast territory within a single track. Thematically, Dimentianon focus on the existential bleakness of the universe. Indeed, the band even includes the following quote by Carl Sagan alongside the lyrics: “The universe seems neither benign nor hostile, merely indifferent.” This nihilistic sensibility with a view toward man’s insignificance against the vast limitless expanse of the sky above permeates the sound and imagery of this release. To accentuate this motif, Dimentianon inject their music with hints of prog and even include the song “Fragmented Nostalgia” which draws on sounds utilized by 1970’s pioneers such as Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze. The result is an impeccably executed mLP that is as complex, diverse, and conceptually rich as you will find in the current stream of underground metal releases.

OUT NOW!
Bunkur “Bludgeon” CD
ANTI-GOTH 192
Originally planned to be released throught the notorious Selbstmord Services, this mammoth saw the pale light in 2004 throught the japanese label Deserted Factory.Recorded, mixed and mastered in three days by producer Pieter Kloos(The Devil’s Blood, Motorpsycho, Vanderbuyst…), in his The Void Studios in Eindhoven, Holland, it is the extended and enhanced version of the 2002 Bludgeon which caused a roar in the European (extreme) Doom scene… Bunkur played all the important doom fests prior or after the release. The basis here lies in the combination of authentic Doom with black metal spiced over by hints of Laibach, Carnivore and Autopsy.
One mammoth 65 minute song of torturous ultra-doom!!!

OUT NOW!
Faustcoven “Hellfire and Funeral Bells” CD
ANTI-GOTH 214
The release schedule of Norway’s Faustcoven is as slow and deliberate as the band’s music. It has been nearly four years since the last Faustcoven album, but with this new record, “Hellfire and Funeral Bells,” Faustcoven demonstrate the virtues of a band taking time with its craft. This album, like all of Faustcoven’s work, is steeped in a classic doom sound, but exhibits a recognition and infusion of more modern and extreme forms of metal as well. For these reasons, Faustcoven has, through the years, commanded the attention of an extremely dedicated and fanatical core of admirers even though the band has, for the most part, been under the radar of the scene at large. Since its inception, Faustcoven has been a nightmarish projection of the mind of Gunnar Hansen — the only consistent member of Faustcoven. For recording purposes, Hansen is joined by Johnny Tombthrasher on drums. Yet despite the fact that it was executed by just two individuals, the sound on “Hellfire and Funeral Bells” is massive. Hansen’s songwriting is unparalleled within this style of doom metal. Every riff is crafted to contribute to the movement of the song as a whole. Never static, the tracks evolve and build as the riffs are seamlessly merged into place within the horrifying soundscapes. Hansen has been consistently refining and focusing his approach with every new album and release. This new album is very likely the most succcesful effort Faustcoven has yet put forth. _________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com.
