I just noticed that this band is supposedly split-up according to MA Sad

Sucks a lot, they are a great band imo and were starting to peak a lot towards their later albums. What's your favorite album?

I'm gonna go with Antichrist. I think they perfected everything on that album, although most would probably argue that their peak was just before that (Words That Go Unspoken...)

I'm not familiar with the debut album, but i've heard not so good opinions about it. Is it worth purchasing and how similar/different is it to The Goat of Mendes (love that one)?

kind of a toss up between choronzon and goat of mendes. fucking stellar band all around though. as for the first album, it's still got the trademark akercocke sound but it's very raw in comparison with everything they recorded afterwards. worth a buy i think.

Of Menstual Blood and Semen is devastation. Choronzon is probably their most interesting effort though.

I loved this band, although I can totally see why a lot of metalheads hate them.

My favorite albums by Akercocke are Choronzon and Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone.

Never was a massive fan of their recorded output despite owning it all at some point, but a brilliant band to watch/listen to live- especially during the last couple of albums.

Terrorizer used to bum this band. Goat of Mendes was the only one I ever heard and it was ok...I remember thinking the vocals were the best thing about it.

Please refer to the old thread about how tits on album covers are a surefire sign of a boring release. Wink

Choronzon by a long shot, followed by earlier releases. Didn't really get into the last two albums at all
