It marks a change stylistically, at least to my ears and it has divided opinions. Many people didn't like it at all when it came out and talk about Slayer post- Seasons, same as people refer to Metallica in pre- and post- Black Album terms. |

Never liked Sodom's Obsessed by Cruelty Good for a laughs with couple of beers but otherwise I never feel like playing it.
For me In the Sign of Evil and Expurse of Sodomy are the best they have ever done, although I haven't bothered checking out the post-Agent Orange albums. |

This one depends a lot of which version you have heard. Steamhammer LP version is the best one. The first recording which is on the CD with In the Sign of Evil and on Metal Blade LP version, is the bad one.
It's strange that they have never reissued that good sounding Steamhammer version again but kept that bad sounding first version in print. _________________ Heavy Metal Nuts

Albums like Folsom Prison Trues are way superior over all your new age shit clone bands.
Actually, it was Mozarts use of many notes that was the great great great grandfather of Thrash Metal, if you don't like his work MORE then Metallica and Megadeth you have to be deaf (like that Beethoven guy!). |
Stupid comparisons. Stupid post. |

+1.
As for Sodom, they never released a really bad album. Some are of course better than others but even the least inspired releases (Better Off Dead, Sodom) include some bonebreakers. Out of the post-Agent Orange stuff I'll recommend M-16, In War And Pieces, Code Red and Til Death (quite punkish at times but killer nonetheless). _________________ Permabanned |

+1 the only early album by Immortal I like is Battles in the North and with Marduk it is Heaven Shall Burn. _________________ Well black metal doesn't really go in that group... at all.... Black metal is all witches and warlocks and graveyards....

Don't Break The Oath is miles ahead of Melissa, having a sister with that name brings the points down. she doesn't like metal.
I really tried to get into Death In June's Burial. really did. can't do it.
Convulse's World Without God has horrible production
later Swans - fucking horrible
that's it for now. |
The Return is my favorite Bathory album. |
its good enough to be one of the greats, just the weakest of the first three. ah, opinions. just like assholes. _________________ my records

I think Dissection is mediocre, Marduk and Bathory are the only Swedish BM bands I can tolerate. _________________ my records

That is a good one. Sodom is hit and miss for me. One of those rare bands where i can't say i like them up until whatever album. |

British Steel of Judas Priest, for sure. Linear as fuck with senile rythmics and full of never-ending fillers/ridiculous songs ("breaking the law", oh so subversive!!!! ) _________________ Hen kai Pan |

I don't think it's radically different at all in the way that the Black Album was. It's just a good Slayer album, but it was preceded by four pretty much perfect albums so it gets the shaft a bit. The songs NK7 listed all kill, as does the unmentioned "Hallowed Point". _________________
