Okay so I'm listening to Marduk's Opus Nocturne and when the title track came on it got me wondering if there are any other great tracks with only spoken words in place of harsher vocal styles. I actually cannot think of any more from the top of my head though figured this might make an interesting topic.
In instances such as with this Marduk track spoken words do a lot more for the track than harsh vocals would have done. |

Not a big fan of the material after under the sign but Gorgoroth - Sign of an open is a really good song with no harsh vocals. |

Secrets of the moon have a pretty cool track called Metamorphoses, the lyrics are whispered throughout the song. |

About half of Mayhem's "Grand Declaration of War" is spoken word. Whether or not you find it awesome is a matter of taste. _________________

Inquisition? The vocals are sort of a spoken word/incantation chant combo or something. For whatever reason they are the main thing I thought of after reading this thread. |

Not metal at all but the excellent Thomas Ligotti / Current 93 collaboration album 'The Unholy City' is spoken word only, behind acoustic / neoflk music sort of deal. |
