This kind of gimmick sure does work catching my attention :
''Faceless and nameless project on the Ancient Records label. Black vinyl housed in a black sleeve.
Imported from Sweden by Ancient Records. Released to 250 copies by Ancient Records''
http://fallenempirestore.bigcartel.com/product/untitled-ar013-lp
Anyone knows what this is ?

I'd be curious to hear from someone who picked it up as well. I suppose I'm just not that inclined to throw 24$ at random records even if I do like the majority of the Ancient Records releases. |

I just hate feeling like I'm maybe missing on something spectacular and that I'll end up hating myself for not buying it back in the times. |

I have this ordered but haven't received it yet I took a chance with it because any ancient records releases I have heard have been great. I just hope it's not an ambient or instrumental release.
I was only disappointed with Dodfodd demo 10 because it doesn't have any vocals. |

That's what they want you to think, great marketing gimmick in my opinion _________________ Ignivomous merch: abaddon_963[at]hotmail.com

No, it's to make listeners focusing on the music only! :ironic:
But seriously, I'm sure this is what they would argue - and if this is truely what they wanted, they already failed. |

One thing's for sure. It will be hilarious trying to Google this band. Well, other than on MA I guess. |

Yeah sure thing bro, plenty of highly spectacular and never heard before records AD 2012, especially when it comes to UG labels who operate in the grim&frostbitten department of metal. All you'll miss on is a bunch of recycled darkthrone/burzum riffs that you heard 100001 zillion times before, I'll hand you a tissue if needed, feel free to PM me any time. _________________ Permabanned |

Welcome to black metal post 2000. Let's focus on good selling gimmicks instead of creating good music and concepts . |
I really just don't like all the limited nonsense, if you're going to limit something unnecessarily you should at least be willing to repress it. In this day and age I swear half of the limited presses are bought up by people who see "limited 100"/handnumbered or whatever and instantly bank it for resale. |

I agree with the limitation thing but I can understand it from Ancient Records point of view nobody gave a fuck or even knew about the label myself included up until a few months ago when Urkaos MLP was released and the Svartrit LPs sold out within a month then all of a sudden just because the stuff was hard to get everyone wanted it.
I only learned about Svartrit from that thread (I already knew about Urkaos and the label) and the only reason I checked Svartrit out was because someone said they sound like old Gorgoroth which I really like. Then I just started checking out all of the other bands on the label and most of the stuff is excellent. |

Therein lies a (sadly) important feature - Metal Archives. No information means that the basic criteria cannot be fulfilled for a band to be on there and thus there is more opportunity to focus on the music whilst pointless shit like who is behind the band, where the band comes etc is made superfluous once again. _________________

If I remember properly, that was the philosophy behind Slipknot wearing masks as well (although not even having a band name is taking it one step further) _________________ Ignivomous merch: abaddon_963[at]hotmail.com
