Some of my all time favorites were released in that period:

BURZUM "Filosofem"
DARKTHRONE "Panzerfaust" + "Total death"
DØDHEIMSGARD "Kronet til konge" + "Monumental possession"
ISENGARD "Høstmørke"
MALIGN" Fireborn"
OFERMOD "Mystérion tés anomias"
ULVER "Nattens madrigal"

+ Aura Noir, Deströyer 666, Nifelheim, Absu and a number of other great bands put out solid records during that time frame as well......

Also very important during that time:

- having a girl by the name of "Lilith" or "Astarte" in the band (until she sucked every cock)
- hanging up a Norway flag upside down in the rehearsal place, reading a Norwegian dictionary, talking about travelling to Norway etc.
- wearing Gladiator boots
- annoying your Metal-friends with recent Gothic/Darkwave discoveries

Agreed. Abigor is one of my all-time favorite bands. The conjured up the perfect blend of harsh Black Metal and swirling baroque-esque compositions.

Isn't this pretty much description of Ancient? Laughing

@ Tireheb:

Haha, yes.

Also a perfect example how a band can turn from sheer brilliance to utter shite in a very short timeframe.

@ Frozen:

It's okay, a lot of people had them. As long as you didn't wear a man-skirt and Kajal-eyeliner while reading Baudelaire and drinking red-wine....

A few days ago I pinned a Finland flag upside down to my door. Embarassed

YES!

Believe it or not, "Det Glemte Riket", "Svartalvheim" and "Trolltaar" are Norwegian BM at its very finest. If you like early Dimmu Borgir, this is for you.

Laughing + the vampire thing mentioned elsewhere, Napalm Records releases flooding the market and kids going nuts over that third Dimmu album.
