This band doesn't have its own thread so I decided to rectify this. Evil play black metal in the old, classic fashion. Nothing original here but they play it with violent fervour and zeal and as such they are definitely the best slovakian black metal band right now. The mastermind of Evil is Dlog who has played with Warmarch, Oldblood and Slavigrom (another great slovakian bands) as a drummer. The other members of Warmarch, Kaltemtal and Carpath, have also played their roles in existence of Evil, the latter also takes part in recording of the full-lenght and live performances.
After several splits and many demos, the band is now working on their first full-lenght album. The work is deeply inspired by the slovakian literary gem "Nevesta Hol" by Frantiek vantner. Expect the unexpected. Evil will record vocals and lead guitars at the end of January and the whole work might be finished at the begining of February. Furthermore, the band is going to play their very first live performances ever! Evil shall accompany Besatt and Inferno on their "Chaos Tour" which shall take place in Czech republic.
The live line-up will consist of Dlog Carpath (Warmarch, Skon) and Koronas (Korium)
Here are several youtube samples. Personally I would recommend their material from splits with Black Angel and Korium + the demo "Devil's Obsession". The compilations "The Awakening of Evil / Years in the Darkness 2001-2011" and "BOX" should be a good start too. Check out their Metal-Archives page.

Those who want to bitch about the band's name or which Evil is "better" can fuck off.

1. This Evil is from Slovakia.
2. Yes that tour will happen (unless something drastic happens) |

It would be a daunting task for any Slovakian black metal band to surpass the almighty Algor.
Judging from a few tracks, however, Evil are a band that, while indeed not "original" in a narrower sense of the term, nonetheless, as Dalihrob wrote, "play with violent fervour and zeal." From the tracks sampled on Evil's bandzone.cz page, I particularly enjoyed the "Empty Graves", "Let the Nightmare Begin" and "Sheep in Wolf's Clothes" tracks: very good traditional black metal that convincingly harkens back to, say, Immortal's "Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism" and "Pure Holocaust" albums.
Also, the album's concept intrigues me. Years ago, I read a German-language collection of several of vantner's stories ("Die Dame" it was called, if I remember correctly) and I faintly remember enjoying it for its magic realism qualities. I should revisit this author; but any way, I am always interested in black metal's takes on literary works of fiction other than the usual fantasy novel kitsch.
