YES, thank you. somebody with some knowledge of the genre.. |
Recommendations? I see he has a huge body of work but any specific highlights would be appreciated. | i'd say Heresy, Paradise Disowned, Zoetrope, and Carbon/Core are good starting points. Surprisingly his earlier work isn't nearly as strong as the later stuff... |
HERESY! |
Quite right! Heresy is the perfect starting point. |

| And don´t forget to mention "Aldebaran" C.D. from INADE, another milestone of the genre. |

Sleep Research Facility - "Nostromo"
Thomas Koner - "permafrost"
Lull - "dremed about dreaming"
ENDVRA - Leiber Leviathan
My personal opinion is that most "ambient" produced by Metal musicians is garbage and pretty superficial. There are exceptions of course, but it's harder than it seems to pull of something decent. _________________ "14 words: we must secure the depravation of the children and ruin the whole fucking world..." |

Agreed.
Good recommendations.
Brian Williams basically invented Dark Ambient.
Newer Inade is also great but less dark and cold, somehow more "cosmic".
I´d add Bad Sector, not the darkest as it sounds strangely emotional and melodic at times (in a great way). Also older Daniel Menche releases, more of an experimental touch there. _________________ Oh, what fun we have when we exist.
