The timeline idea is cool, indeed!
It's still weird to see Vulcano's first 7" listed over there, though. It's so damn far from being an extreme Metal recording...

Yeah, I remember the first time I bothered to look up their debut EP...totally out of left field if all your familiar with is Bloody Vengeance, Anthropophagy and Devil on my Roof.
For what it's worth, it's an enjoyable record, but there's nothing about it that would give you any indication it's the same band...

Yah, thanks for that catch.
One of the interesting things I got out of this timeline is you can see the first wave of black metal really fizzle out by 1988, and then a resurgence by 91, as the second wave started forming a more specific look and sound to the genre. I was reading some of the early Slayer magazines while making this and it's funny to see a couple references to black metal as this 80s fad that's already past. |
