If not, does anywhere have the recent DLP in stock still? |
I sold out of my copies but I should have more any day now. _________________ http://www.darkdescentrecords.com |

"Disliking" is a bit a strong word, but I never found them that special. For my ears, they were basically more or less ripping off Morbid Angel.

Do you try to be the "Hey look, I am refreshingly different!"-type of guy here? |

Huhu-haha-hoho, nice mimicry attempt.
There's a little difference with "not giving a fuck about" three pretty essential bands and not joining the hooray-choir of ONE band.
But maybe next time? |

This. Just listened to this material recently and didn't find there to be anything worth remarking on. The monk chant at the beginning of that one song was cool, but that's about it. _________________

Stumbled upon this montage video of a live show+rehearsal of Grotesque from 1990. Must watch for all admirers of the band!

I really don't hear Morbid Angel in Grotesque whatsoever. |

Me neither, I hope that guy can point me to exact songs where they were ripping off Morbid Angel. _________________ Alone Wankyng |

You don't like Pestilence and mistake them for Asphyx (which for your own admission you only know through youtube links), guess how's relevant your opinion here -or anywhere else for that sake.
Back to the thread, eightplague is right, I wouldn't say Morbid Angel was a direct influence for Grotesque. Early Slayer, '80ies speed/thrash and some punk/crust probably were. _________________ Permabanned |

I love this kind of death metal with just the right amount of thrashiness, a lot of riffs and some evil fucking vocals on top of that.
Does anybody own or have heard the demos? _________________

This. It dosen't register in my ears. They just sound like Grotesque. _________________ "Beating up wife and children.....well at least a little bit more evil than ex-bandcomrade Blackmoon who only GOT beaten up by an elk." |

Only thing that bothers is that it's double on 45 RPM when the music would fit easily on just one disc. Fuck this audiophile bullshit... |
Never a fan of 12"/45, What a bother of filliping the records after 10 mins. something instead of just enjoying your drink sitting down, First world problems. |
Are you guys insane? What's the point of buying records if you're not doing it for the sound? If you don't want to flip the record, buy a CD instead and put in on repeat. 45rpm 12"es are the best vinyl format imho, the best sounding one at least (when it's not an atrocious picture disc, that is.) |
No, i'm just lazy to get off my seat. Not because it's 45rpm it means it has better sound, I have a bunch of old 33 sounding better than the 45 re-issues. |
I was right, you're insane. You can't compare 33rpm LPs recorded and mastered by pros who spent their days doing just that in the 70's or 80's with 45rpm 7"es pressed on splatter colour through Pirates Press 2 years ago. The old dudes could make single LPs with 50 minutes of music on them sound crisp and loud as hell. Nowadays, hardly anyone does that anymore (whereas it's crucial for a record to sound good imho) because labels prefer to pay plants that halfass everything in-house. |
Actually, the two cutting engineers I know of working at GZ (where Pirates presses) are the original cutting engineers who've been working there since the beginning and cutting records for many many decades. Met both the guys.
As far as this DLP, the recommend maximum per-side length for an LP is 20 minutes. After this, you start to see a drop-off in loudness. A few minutes per side over is OK, but as you started to go 5-10 minutes per side over, you will hear the effects. I think 25 minutes per side is pushing it and around the point where you should go to DLP. _________________ Releasing: Perturbator, motW, Lykathea Aflame, Sigh, GosT, SYL, Arcturus, Moonsorrow, Nightbringer, Ihsahn, Aquilus, Odium, Kauan, Emperor, Psycroptic.
