Agree with you, although I would say "too clean & polished" in stead of "too orthodox"...

I'd agree with both of you.

Yeah, the album sounds way too polished but it's still good, although the demo is far superior.

Thanks for the info. Looking forward to new material!

Awesome band, both demo and full lenght are good, though i prefer Consolamentum. Probably too polished and Watainish for some but much still light-years better than certain swedish glue sniffers. Good live band too.

I only have Consolamentum and really enjoy giving it a spin, but have not heard anything else. Am I missing out?

With Burning Tongues is far better.More memorable and hymnic character of the songs,as Consolamentum contains too much uninspiring speed parts and all that religious black metal cliches.Overall demo is superior..

Interesting to read that some categorize this band as nothing interesting and Consolamentum as mediocre. All the songs are composed perfectly on it from the beginning to the end with really great and varied riffs that are conjuring a truly dark and sombre atmosphere. All instruments are really stand on its own, drums are perfect and the bass also did a very good job with many good ideas. My favourite songs from the album are probably Fire and Faith, Amok and Angel of the Burning Sun, all of them are more superior than most things I've heard in the latest years. Something that convinced me so much from newer bands were Acheronta (from Vamachara especially) and Svartidaudi. By the way, Ascension demo is very, very good too, though I think the album is better. Sound is not too clean and polished I think, just everything is mixed in a good harmony and with a good balance so listeners can hear everything without shaping their ears all the time. The sound of the demo was also fleshripping and songs like Grey Queen or The Serpents Gate are total masterpieces. Also, their EP (Fire and Faith) is killer too, liked it a lot. Total support for this band and really interested in their next step!

Typical metalheads. The album has some amazing riffs and songs, but all they care about is whether or not the production is necro enough. Fucking sigh...
