Looking to travel more in 2014, and hit up some punk/metal festivals while I'm at it. What's the best one you've been to/heard of and why?

Personally so far for me, has been Messe de Morts II in Montreal, QB, Canada. GREAT line-up/great crowd there, only wish I hadn't been so sick to enjoy it!

Chaos in tejas. Always good mixtures of both metal and punk. Sucks that they had antisect playing at the same time as black witchery last year in a different venue. Wish I could have seen antisect, but of course I chose black witcchery instead.

My best festival experience was Hell's Pleasure... but I haven't been to that many festivals yet. It was so killer... no matter which band were playing, it was always good! The beer was cheap, it was small, and the atmosphere was great!!

Obscene extreme for grind/death/crust/punk. Small-scale festival with half litre beers for €1,2.

They're doing some spin-off festivals in Asia/South-America this year.

Yeah, I'm headed there this year to see BOLT THROWER (and well as a ton of other bands), actually!

Already got my tickets for Hell's Pleasure, Obscene Extreme is very good too. Both festivals are in July, one could easily go to both festivals when on vacation.

Look out for the beer with the highest original wort if you want to get shitfaced!

TOUCH OF DEATH (Metal/punk festival in Cochrane, Ontario)

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Touch-of-Death-Metal-and-Punk-Fest/205681876114769

I think it usually runs Canada day weekend (Friday to Sunday) so maybe Friday June 28th- June 30th) ?

haven't been there myself yet, but if you can stand gigantic mosquitoes/flies that eat chunks of your skin, it is supposedly pretty cool.

The live vids i´ve seen from bands there have shown the most retarded crowd possible... No way I will ever make it there.

My vote goes for Hell´s Pleasure as well...

That may be true, but at least no one is giving the Roman salute there.

I was there too, but that was a different festival venue. The one they used before, and now again, is much better!
