Musically it's certainly a masterpiece but the production is terrible and takes away a lot of the impact. Should have made it to the "worst drum sound" thread. _________________ Permabanned |

Great band, I saw them twice since their reunion. _________________

Surprising poll results...
I thought GoG and TRiTSiO would be the overwhelming favorites on this forum. |

One of my regrets is that back in the early 2000s a local still running second hand shop (in which I made plenty of nice discoveries from 1996 onwards - superhails!) had an original The Red In The Sky Is Ours for weeks or months for a bargain price just sitting there, but I was not interested in picking that up because I was in a very strictly black metal state of mind back then, as many of us have probably been at some point... and I have not yet rectified this! Maybe it's just too late now. Or maybe when the time is just right...
So I only have Slaughter Of The Soul, which is good. Although as a side effect of modern times, it kind of floods my mind with images of suburban metalcore emo bands jumping up and down slamming their instruments in energy drink spasms. I'm not going to let something like that ruin a perfectly good melodeath album though. _________________ §:-Ğl |

I actually sold my copy of Slaughter. It's a good melodeath album but I have no real use for melodeath anymore. Bad enough that it temporarily ruined death metal, it had to go ahead and try to ruin thrash as well. My vote goes to "With Fear" though really any of their earlier stuff is quality. _________________ http://unspeakableaxerecords.com |

It could also support its own "shit guitar sound" thread. Weak shit.
I voted for "With Fear." No detailed explanation really, it just stuck with me the most. |

Revisited all their material as a result of this thread, and found myself wondering why I hadn't listened more to Terminal Spirit Disease for years; a great middle ground between the early and late material.
That said, all their albums are fantastic; With Fear... is an incredibly strange, twisted and bleak record, and very hard to fully understand I think. The Red... is perhaps their most atmospheric recording and Slaughter... is a great album for crushing a few beers, or running/gym sessions. Magical band. |

Definitely one of the few bands with 2+ albums where I can say I legitimately enjoy everything they put out. |

The debut and demo for sure! The Red in the Sky is Ours is one of the best Swedish death metal albums in my opinion. |

Slaughter of the Soul. Literally the only album in this style that I enjoy. |

I enjoy Gardens of Grief best because I know that when it ends Grotesque will start up, and Grotesque rules. _________________ If you are a false don't marry! Girlfriend is ok but only destructing anus from behind!!! - Fat Dagon

I lose all interest for ATG when Alf Svensson left them. He was such an amazing songwriter (those dual guitar parts he wrote were so impressive...). |
