id rank incantation among my favorites, but I mostly just want to listen to "Tribute to the Goat" and occasionally when i want something with good production, golgotha and the one after that, but i havent heard any of the newer albums and i doubt ill be checking them out if thats the art style they want to use now.

the entrapment of evil artwork is iconic to me. It probably has a lot to do with why i checked them out in the first place. Ill pass on this for now...

Ehh... not really, at least in my opinion. I actually really like the Majesty and Decay cover. It appeals to my nerd senses in some weird way...

...probably because of...

I don't care for artworks, I just want they get Alex or Craig back to the band, or throw away that triggered drum machine-like crap. Providence had its moments but it was their weakest effort to date. Majesty was pretty consistent, their best work since Unholy Cult imo.

Agreed, Shadows In The Light and Harnessing Ruin were not bad at all, but Immolation can do a lot better than that. Providence is their weakest effort to date but it's only an EP so what the heck..

The drums do sound a bit triggered on Providence (at least, that's what I remember) but I am quite satisfied they left shitty productions way behind. Regardless the fact I love how Close to a World Below sounds, their productions over the past many, many years were below mediocre.

I feel like I live on a different planet than you mofos. Harnessing/Shadows were pretty terrible albums, sounding like nu metal/mallcore at times. Can you really listen to "Dead to Me" and say with a straight face that it doesn't completely destroy Harnessing Ruin? If so... lol.

I thought Majesty and Decay was the sad end of Immolation, the nail in the coffin so to speak, and thought it might prove to be the most aptly-named album of all time. They dropped all the bullshit of the previous coupla albums and brought back the key elements of their post-DoP albums (their MAJESTY, if you will) but it somehow lacked the fucking ferocity of their earlier work, both lyrically and, more importantly, musically, leaving a real feel of DECAY.

Now those are harsh words indeed, and I say that as a 20-year Immolation fan. Personally, I was greatly relieved by the Providence EP, as it (imo) contains their best material since Unholy Cult. Providence alone erased my lamentations regarding the band, and makes me look forward to the new one like a motherfucker. I really hope they shatter my expectations which, despite my criticisms, are high.

Shadows In The Light was the last one i enjoyed.

The more recent stuff doesn't have the same vibe. Must be the production.

The best 'mainstream' Death Metal band, hand down. That being said, I don't know what to think of of this, the cover art is shit, and why are they going all political?
