Protip: I buy all my pedals on Craigslist and have an idea of what's shit and what's good based on the amount of flipping of certain pedals. The bass big muff and metal muff I see flipped more than anything else. It's not scientific, but I'd stay away. Anything EHX nano, etc as well.

If I were you, I'd buy a used Boss DS-1 for $20 on Craigslist and have it modded to original spec for $30 as this is a super easy mod and they sound FUCKING AWESOME when you get it right.... I bought a fully modded one from a guy for $50 and it totally rules everything.

Man I forgot about this thread, I'll post a pic of my sweet 6 string bass, punchy and bright solid state head and juicy 410 cab and my gay pedalboard with a sweet Q-Tron, Boss Flanger and Mammoth clone built for active pickups.....

Sovtek-"Mig50h" (not the "midget" though which is quite rare from what I have gathered)

'74 Ampeg v4 (412 square backs)

'79 Ibanez "Iceman"

Too many pedals.

Mig > jcm800. (In my opinion..had both)

Looking for a Ampeg v4 head and/or Sunn Model T

Peavey ValveKing 112
Boss MT-2 Metal Zone distortion
MXR Ten-Band EQ pedal

For guitars I play both a Gibson SG standard and a Jackson DKMG Dinky. Both are in cherry finish.

I have my eyes on a half-stack next. I'm pretty pleased with the ValveKing, so I might just go for the stack version as opposed to the combo amp I have right now.

Are there people here having experience with the EHX Metal Muff (Link)? I'm looking for a decent all-round distortion pedal. I've allready read some good reviews about it, but most of the youtube samples are rather lame...

Playing gear
2 x ESP set necks with EMG's (one active and one passive) (Currently in service for Ignivomous)
1 x ESP 7 string which I'm trading soon for a fixed bridge Schecter (Currently in service with Whitehorse and Voidchrist)
1 x Ibanez mid 90's Japanese made (looking to sell) (Retired from service from Ignivomous)
1 x Washburn active bass from the early 2000's (looking to sell) (Retired from service from Urgrund)
1 x Line 6 HD500
1 x Peavey 5150 Mk1 head
1 x Seymour Duncan 4x12 cab (who knew they made cabs?)
Some number x pedals I don't use anymore (got a shitload over the years, mostly retired from service from Ignivomous)
1 x Martinez solid top steel string guitar (Currently in service for Voidchrist)

Recording / mixing / mastering gear
1 x Laptop
1 x ProTools 003r plus (or whatever it's called, the one with 8 pre-amps)
2 x Alesis M1 monitors
2 x Shure SM57
2 x Shure SM58
2 x Bass drums / cabs mics
4 x Tom mics
2 x Overhead mics
1 x Snare mic (I have no idea what brand my drums mics are, basically their middle of the road sort of deal that can get a pretty good sound for a home studio job)

And I use Adobe Audition for mastering on top of ProTools for recording and mixing. I'm probably forgetting something but that's a basic run down of what I'm using right now.

EDIT: Forgot about the Roland Synth I've got too Rolling Eyes

H|H Bass Machine Amp (Ultimate solid state amp, not too far off from a 300 series Acoustic but waaaay more low end and a good amount more headroom, especially for only being 200 watts.)
Gibson EB-3 (1971, full scale neck and the insane humbucker and single coil that came sock on em. Killer)
Squire "70's" J Bass reissue (plays good for a total cheapo bass, put Seymour Duncan hotstacks in for more output and tone. Sounds as good as a bass 3 times it's price now. Use this one for Anhedonist.)
TH Electronics "Grump" bass overdrive pedal (Rules, nice dry mix and true bypass. Really wild and insane overdrive)

Anyone in the Seattle area looking to get rid of a bass amp? Need a second one.

Ibanez SA series with Seymour Duncan SH-4
Yamaha 270 RBX bass
(both lefty)

Tube Screamer Clone with opamp upgrade and switched symmetrical/asymmetrical clipping.
Quadrafuzz

Soldano X88r preamp clone, with many many mods including a mode for bass guitar,
JJ tubes. In pieces temporarily
Marshall 9005 stereo power amp, with depth pot and (pending) choke mod. Telefunken 12AT7 driver tubes, channel A pair of Tesla EL-34, channel B JJ 6CA7 pair.
I have a quad of Tung Sol 6550s coming so we'll see what that sounds like.

2x 212 custom cabinets (pending). Probably going to put some V30 knockoffs
412 Marshall valvestate era (particle board bullshit, sounds like shit)

I need advice on selecting a bass cabinet, or at least speakers. Also, Im looking for a good flanger or something. A really pulsating crazy one. Advice?

Once all this crap is tweaked and set up, I will be working on a stereo chorus, a tube driven spring reverb and some parametric EQs

Hmm First time i heard Adobe Audition used as a mastering tool on top of pro tools . Were the mastering options for pro tools bright sounding in your ears (just assuming). Thanks

What are your thoughts about the sonic maximizer? The reviews I read are decidedly mixed

personally I like it a lot because it gives you that classic 'scooped' sort of sound without ACTUALLY scooping the mids.. you just have to be sure you keep the mids on the amp up pretty high otherwise you'll start to get that thinned out weak amateur 'scooped' sound - i think most people who knock on them dont have the mids on the amp high enough .. the lows/highs on the amp can come down a littlesome also because of the boost from the maximizer ..

It was less about the sound, but yeah, wasn't too crazy about how my protools masters came out. It was mostly a workflow thing, the way that AA pretty much changes the soundwave in front of your eyes (something audio nerds call destructive editing) that PT can't really do. Plus for some reason the default multiband compressor seems to be the best I've ever used (don't know why, gone through 3 or 4 on PT with mixed results).

There's a few other things to do with the way it's set out, operates, etc, that makes it feel like it's just suited to mastering, the same way PT just seems to be really suited to mixing. This is all just my opinion though, so whatever floats your boat!
