There are a lot of great drummers but I always thought that drum parts on "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath and "Time" by Pink Floyd were perfect examples of rare cases when drum lines are something more than just a rhythmic pattern of the song. |

forgot to mention the drumming on Krieg 'Destruction Ritual' - very intense and 'alive' _________________ Buy my KVLT: http://www.nwnprod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=60310

Both albums really. Killer performance by the guy.
Also, whoever said Lars Ulrich...just no. He is not even a very good drummer, let alone soulful.

god knows he's anything but skilled, but the drumming on MoP is definetly fitting and 'present' in the chemistry of the band playing.
nothing before or after in Metallica is noteworthy IMO drumwise- it does the job, thats about it _________________ Buy my KVLT: http://www.nwnprod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=60310

Ok guys.
If we're talking outside of metal,
if we're talking of an INSPIRED drummer that generates something, a drummer that has an aura, that somehow exhales something... Soulful, something rare and impressive not because of sheer technical performance but because it is pure mesmerizing feeling
I gotta mention the one drummer that has impressed me the most in my life and it's someone very rare to see and few can witness it and maybe those who had the chance didnt notice it/him but a few years ago they played and I was on the first row, hands on the stage and I saw him very well and he was truly like a SAMURAI and though it may sound silly I mean it in the sense of something totally masterful and noble and deadly and under control and awe-inspiring and beautiful... Hard to explain and describe and I dont even know if some videos exist that could show it... He was playing very softly in the soft, quiet beginning of "El mundo Frio" and he appeared so powerful while playing softly, he was so living it to the full, living his drumming, it was just WOW, and he was the drummer of

Flo Mounier of Cryptopsy on "Blasphemy Made Flesh" and "None So Vile". Deep pocket, tasteful cymbal work, great snare sound. |

First demo and 2 albums by Aeternus... excellent, soulful, heart-felt drumming with real thunderous power and intensity. Greatly underrated records in general. |
