I've always been a big fan of this album and I have trouble understanding why it doesn't get more love. The songs are varied and memorable and the band sounds genuinely pissed. I think the slower tracks are some of the most evil and disturbing songs they ever wrote.

To me DI sounds like a band that's going through the motions. I don't think there's too many memorable songs, and in fact I'd call most of it uninspired filler. IMO some of Araya's worst vocals can be found on this album.

It's Slayer, so it still kicks ass in its own way - but this album was and is a huge letdown for me.

Araya's vocals are one of my favorite aspects on this album... absolutely acidic at times...

agreed, that Divine Intervention was much more aggressive than the previous two,and their last overall great album.
Paul Bostpah's crazy drum patterns pumped them back up into a killer band.

Aggressive isn't necessarily synonymous with great. In the case being, songs might be faster than on SitA but lack the lasting power of the previous record, it's in fact no wonder none of the tracks became real classics in the band's repertoire. Still a good album though.

Good album but obviously far away from the immense class of the first five. I guess it's one of the best post-'80ies thrash records of all times, but that's not saying much. Probably the strongest non-classic Slayer album.

This.

Last Slayer album worth owning (with Undisputed Attitude).

Awesome album! Their darkest album since Hell Awaits, IMO.

I love Divine Intervention. It gets a bad rap. It is an underrated good album by Slayer with a sinister atmosphere.

It's so far beneath all the albums that came before it, that for me there's really no point in listening to it.

Basic agreement here. It has an entirely different spirit, of imitating the past and not trying to add something to it. I knew that Seasons in the Abyss wasn't as intense as earlier Slayer, but Divine Intervention showed me the Slayer golden age was over. That being said, they're still better than 99% of all bands.
