In all seriousness, there was SOME truth to that (albeit a partial truth covered in grains of salt) back in 2001 when it was said. Vinyl hadn't blown up yet and pretty much the only people who gave a shit about it were die hard metalheads. That's not to say some of them weren't posers in the end, but you get my drift. |

It's not that much more hilarious than for example Matt Vain's scene-repport "666 - At Callin Death" from 1993....those people just never thought there will be something like Youtube once.
More funny is that probably 80% of the US users here were listening to stuff like Korn or Limp Bizkit back in 2001, if anything. |

2001 was a great year. Not everyone was online beyond dialup and internet ignorance was still acceptable so CD trading still happened. Starting to feel old.
Still heard of new shit by radio (KFAI Root of All Evil bitches!) and zines. I miss those days where every new record you threw on was special for those first few minutes. |

i bought my first cd in 2000 when i was 10 or 11 and it was in fact a Korn cd. my second purchase was limp bizkit. the funny thing was buying them with my allowance and people were all up tight about the parental advisory shit and the store clerks would only let me buy censored versions of these crappy nu metal albums. worst times. too young to know about anything better. |

The Chasm and Krieg were the only bands that didn't make asses out of themselves, if I remember right. That Thornspawn interview is fucking godawful. |

I really liked their interview. they seemed like very genuine guys. No dark pose, just authentic love for metal. |
