Their demo "Spawn of Pure Malevolence" was very good, sadly they never got close to that again.

Epitome of Darkness is one of my most played DM albums. I really don't hear a clone of any other band...but Repugnant clearly have DM history and aesthetic nailed perfectly. The songs aren't just clones, they're actually quite unique. Take "From Beyond the Grave" and its totally unique breaks and riffs. A clone of WHO? I've heard Left Hand Path about a thousand times, heard a great many generic retro DM acts, and honestly Repugnant isn't ripping off old bands or falling into the generic pile of shit either.

I just don't get these criticisms.

Speaking of which, where is the fucking demo comp? I can only assume it will never happen.

As much as I enjoy Repugnant, I would certainly never claim that they're original or anything, and I don't blame people who don't care for them simply due to the enormous number of other similar bands past and present.

I find it funny that if someone here claimed say Reign in Blood was overrated, there would be people agreeing with said statement. Yet when someone says they don't care for Repugnant everyone loses their shit. Lol

Well it doesn't bother me if you don't like any particular LP. But I've heard one too many boring swedeath clones not to recognize that Repugnant are not just another bunch of hacks.
