This band has 3 releases...

From the Depths Full-length,
Bereavement EP, 1997
Elysium Full-length, 1998

maybe the most well known is the EP, distributed in those times by BLACKENED MOON, and they featured in many DWELL TRIBUTE CDS, but the s/t cd, which is really the 2 demos, is really a high speed melodic Black metal, when it arrived to my home, no way....
My friends and me always listened to it most of saturdays... it has very catchy riffs, a high peaked vocals (in some sense very laughable, because its simmillitude to Donald Duck, even more than Ihsahn voice from EMPEROR). Sometimes it has amazing parts, sometimes weird or smily ones... But a good debut, but I guess very unknown.
The vocalist was JIm Sadist from NUNSLAUGHTER, after this cd he quit...

anyone here who has listened this cd?

I see copies of the Bereavement in nearly every larger second-hand shop I go to. I wonder if they printed a lot...

I have Bereavement and Elysium. Neither really caught my attention, but I'll go back and check them out again.

Love this band. Do not have the Self Titled, but I have Elysium and Bereavement. The MCD is better. Still listen to it on regular occasion.

I also have a shirt with the full color MCD artwork that I bought straight from Duane.

If you like From the Depths, try Decrepit. Another Cleveland band with some similarities (in sound and members)

Never listened To Elysha

But between MCD BEAREVEMENT, and debut S/T FROM THE DEPTHS, the debut is 1000 % better...

This CD release is actually a compilation of two demos. The first recorded in 1995, and the second half in 1996. The tapes were never officially released (with cover art) and Dismal Records approached the band about releasing them on CD which happened in 1996. Vocalist Malcolm Judas Anthony (a.k.a. Jim Sadist, Jim Satanic, Jim Teufel, Jim Lasagna) was fired after the release of this CD. However he has teamed up with Dismal Records and Hell's Headbangers to release this album on LP in 2009. The original CD release was limited to only 1000 copies and has been sold out since 1997.

The LP version is still not out. We will coordinate the manufacturing of the release and go in on the cost of production along with Jim Sadist, Dismal Records and hopefully a couple of other labels. Interested parties, please contact: throneoffire (at) hellsheadbangers.com

We have a couple of "Bereavement" CDs left, too.

I have all three CDs and saw them live numerous times. Always liked that band and they were good live too.

What I find interesting though is that among three Cleveland bands that were playing a lot of live shows around that time (From the Depths, Somnus, Sanctorum), From the Depths got the most overall exposure even though I always thought that Somnus and especially Sanctorum were better and more interesting (this is not a knock on FTD, just my opinion that the other two were more exciting). Well, at least Somnus released a couple of CDs and a demo tape. Sanctorum, on the other hand, never really released anything and I failed to grab one of the demo CD-Rs they threw into the crowd after one of the shows Evil or Very Mad, so they left without a trace, so to speak, which is a shame because they were good.

I recommend everybody to check Somnus out even though there are no similarities to FTD whatsoever and Somnus always sounded better live than on their recordings.
