Haha Witchery! Runaway winner of this thread, such a shit band and no amount of press would ever change that.

Peccatum as well, that band had to be an elaborate joke or something. Oddly I saw both them and Witchery opening for Emperor in the late 90's.

Whether or not they were 'really there', it gets really fucking tiresome when every single thread becomes about how young whipper snappers ruined everything and the internet is the death of music. Even when there's a certain (limited) amount of truth in this claim.

It's not hard to tune out 'the scene' and everything that sucks about it. Seriously, there is enough good stuff to focus on that it should be hard to find the time to bitch and moan so much about peripheral garbage - although I often suspect that some of these chronic whiners around here derive their entire sense of personal authenticity from pointing out the fact that they were 16 years old in 1985.

I pretty much agree with people's statements about young posters' opinions on here, but it reminds me of how my dad always said a lot of the music I listened to was "terrible, and had ruined music," which makes me think of this:

I did as well at The Flying Machine in Ohio. Fun times. I like Peccatums first album ok....the rest blew.

This. If you want to be a "true" underground warrior there's more than enough music, not only in the past, but coming out now, that caters to that. There isn't any reason why it should matter to you in the slightest what other people are listening to, even those precious albums that you think somehow belong to you.

Cue the NK7 or Conservationist response on how these people somehow ruin the "scene" that doesn't actually exist.

Strapping Young Lad-City

Lots of metalheads worship Devin shit and this album seems to be the one that gets the most praise. Myself I am ashamed to say that I even own this album.

Can't speak for Conservationist but as far as I'm concerned I couldn't care less about any "scene" at all, I never interact with metalheads IRL and I have no idea who is listening to what nor I care. As someone else pointed out I (sometimes over)react to clueless kids posting bold statements about things they don't know jackshit about, I do that because I happen to hate young know-it-all pretentious douchebags in all fields of life -not just music. When some average Joe calls Possessed a mediocre Slayer clone while praising Six Feet Under there is just too unintentional stupidity to let it go unpunished.

I'll have to say, I have been listening to Slayer since 84 and I can tell you first hand that it is the kids that have been ruining the scene as long as I can remember. Even my older sister will swear it was the kids that ruined the scene when she was 14 and listening to Black Sabbath and AC/DC.
