Brutally Deceased, Mortal Massacre, House by the Cemetary and Hacked up for Barbecue are CLASSIC SHIT to my ears. Too much love for those catchy pounding and nasty death metal riffs and such monstruous voice, combined with that aforementioned overdose of disturbing bass lines and a drum machine that sounds ok for me... I'm a horror freak as well, so extremely long samples do well for me, as did Impetigo.

Your blood................... all over me. Twisted Evil

Yay for sure!

As already mentioned, not something I listen all day and own every release, but they are just in a brutality league of their own. Always liked the intros as well, as I am a big fan of cult horror movies.

Saw them live in ca. 2002/2003 and it was an intense show. Had a little chit-chat with Rahmer afterwards and he was very cool, although he doesn't make a friendly impression at first sight.

Great band. They have their own sound which is a rarity these days and especially the early stuff was something truly revolutionary. I like everything they released but Zombie Apocalypse and Hacked Up For Barbecue are the obvious highlights.

Hm, didn't expect that, aren't they something like the Mütiilation of Death Metal?

Why would they be?

Mortician = skilled musicians performing well-written music in properly produced albums for fans of extreme metal
Mutiilation = lousy noise-makers playing cheap clone rubbish in poorly sounding records for retarded kids with mental issues

I don't see what the bands have in common, really.

Well, you have to be a little mental to like Mortician I'd say. And songwriting capability is a stretch. They are originals, I give you that. Maybe they are more like Mysticum. Odd music for odd people.

More like the Ildjarn of DM.

If the drumcomp is a problem, check out "Mortal Massacre".

And first 7" Brutally Mutilated.

There is also compilation "Final Bloodbath Session" where they re-recorded some songs with real drums. Too bad the drum sound is extremely shitty (specially snare) to enjoy it through. It's also without any movie samples so it's a wimp friendly Mortician cd!

Heavy as fuck stuff. Not for everyday consumption, but sometimes you just want minimalist music composed entirely of low-end to rub your brain with the care of an alpha male gorilla whose girlfriend you just fucked.

However, I wish the minimalism of their music would have carried over to the cover art and that they would have shown restraint with album length and samples. 30 minutes of music per release, Deicide style, and they'd be perfect.

Also, they haven't released new music in almost a decade, anyone know what's up with them these days?

Yes, I have them compiled on CD, this version in particular:

http://www.discogs.com/Mortician-Mortal-Massacre/release/450470

Probably the only slim-case CD I still own.

Don't get me wrong I'm a fan, I have the 7''. As well as the HbtC 7'', which I personally enjoy the most, drum computer aside (I like those, especially in grind, black metal and noise rock Smile) But compared to Pyrexia for example, Mortician sounds a bit stale.

Billy Razorback interviewed Rahmer recently for an upcoming Zune and he said they're working on new material. I believe the next album will feature a live drummer again.

I'll have to say I love all their full lengths as well, even Re-Animated Dead Flesh... I can't believe it's been out almost 10 years now.

this thread was worth it just to see that clip someone posted of vic novak on drums. I knew the guy thru a friend of a friend and he had a couple good stories about touring with mortician.

I think hacked is by far the best. kool to see so many people like them. its too bad we'll probably never see any black vinyl re-issues of their shit (unless hhr does maybe)
