Lots of excellent recs in this thread already.
Recent heavy metal I've enjoyed (not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but what the hell):
the aforementioned Hell -- Human Remains. It's so over the top, but it's really enjoyable.
Also,
Zuul -- Out of Time
Zuul -- To the Frontlines!
The first is heavily skewed toward a NWOBHM sound. The second is more varied, but they all rock.
Both can be found easily in CD and LP format in NA and Europe (Planet Metal and High Roller, respectively). _________________ Old dudes watched nothing but Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street. That's how you start a proper path to misanthropy and hate. -- Goldenbull |

Some not mentioned materials
Viper: Soldiers of Sunrise (Brazil 1987 speed heavy, great vocals punk style drumming)
Mindless Sinner: Turn Up the Power ( Swedish old metal, best of that country for me, also demo after this album is incredible)(speed/heavy)
Nocturnal Rites: In a Time of Blood and Fire ( ignore anything after sacred talismen, this is their first and most awesome album, speed/heavy, with vocalist of Gothom City, Ander Zacrisson)
Iron Savior: Unification (speed/power, this is newer but still I think its great, pulled it out for a revisit and still like it, Kai Hansen era of this band is worth the time for fans of speed/power metal)
Hawaii: One Nation Undergroud (Friedmans band before Megadeth, Escape the night is one of the best US metal song in my personal opinion)
Thunderway: The Order Executors (Albania version of old Helloween)
Faithful Breath: Faithful Breath (Great old timerband that kept rocking till they broke their hips, like Heavy Loan meets Deep Purple)
Iron Cobra: Dungeon Masters (New album from German band, part of the newer school of traditional heavy metal, Kill em meets, Thor, meets Gravestone) _________________ "It was the best of time it was the blurst of times."
