No Jim Durkin, no DFA....

Definitely a strange one, especially if Dotty has come back. He turned into a Born Again Christian didn't he? So if he can come back, whats the story with Durkin?

Wasn't Ron Rinehart the Born Again Christian?

Thought it was the two of them, not that it personally bothers me...swings and roundabouts and all. Pretty sure Ron went extreme Christian Very Happy

Pretty cool. I suppose they're to be expected at MDF as well?

I just happened to be on a DA kick recently. TDNH is a beast of an album.

I've seen that album get trashed in reviews, but it's my favorite by them. The vocals take some getting used to but those fucking riffs, man...

I saw the second leg with Possessed at City Gardens in NJ. Amazing gig - one of the finest metal shows I've attended.

Wow, very cool! I remember the DC show was on a night there was a massive snow storm and I just couldn't convince my parents to let me go out in the blizzard! I should have just run away that night! Haha....

Hate tne two of you! They must have been killer shows! Any pics to share??

I don't have any pix, but somewhere I do have autographs from most of Dark Angel with some hilarious quotes commenting on my age/size! I'll try to dig them up. I was in 7th grade, and stuck out like a sore thumb among all these ragers! I think Gene wrote something like "Small don't mean shit, you fucking rule!!!", and he also gave me a drumstick but I think that's been lost in the shuffle. If I remember correctly another one says "Death is certain, life is not- you've got a hellish head start!". Good times!

Woah, that's crazy- I hope they do a US show too! I saw Dark Angel on the "Darkness Descends" Tour with Megadeth in '86 it still stands to this day as one of the best shows I've ever seen. I still regret missing them with Possessed on the second leg....

I had tickets for the Dark Angel / Possessed show here in Pittsburgh but the show was cancelled.

Sounds like a solid lineup, even without Jim D.

"Up date DA Line-up so far Jim will be only one sitting this one out. This is due to having prior engagements with work. All of you know, if Jim could make it ,he would be there. Taking his place will be Justin Zych.
"Then it was heard on every radio, World War 3 has started"
- Don

Although KIT is set in stone for next year, I'm sure DA will have some warmup shows before hitting that fest.
Word is spreading like wildfire of this reunion, just a matter of time before some promoters get a whiff and intercept them for several local gigs/fests.
I suspect Thrasho De Mayo and MDF as one of the first on the agenda.

Still don't know the reason why Don Doty left-kicked out.

Great news but I'm doubtful they still have the violence and the energy spread out in the '80-'90

IM going to play the devil's advocate for this one simply because Dark Angel was the last US thrash band i worshipped and hadn't done a reunion all this time, and who i have to admit from repeated listens to Time Does Not Heal saved face really well compared to their contemporaries from the bay area.

I always felt if they had continued like the rest of them, they would have ruined their discography, which is at least in my opinion perfect. That said what do they have to say or do 22 or 23 years later, even further considered Don Doty just sort of fell off the map entirely all this time and from what i recall even a couple years ago not many people had any clue what he's been up to. So why now?

As great as an opportunity would be to see this band live as they are one of my favorite thrash bands, and one of the few who i can still stand from the american scene, i'm worried they may somehow screw up their return with new songs/album hype or that after nearly a quarter century Don Doty might not have it in him like he did when he was much younger. Hopefully i'm proven wrong, but am i the only one fearing this?

Saw dark angel back in 91 and they were incredible. I was still underage but managed to find a ride to the gig. To md their discography is next to flawless, Darkness Descends is of course THE album, yet TDNH always gives me goosebumps, it is thrash metal perfection.

I read he was kicked out due to drug use.
