Why do all local bands sound the fucking same? All the local metal bands have the same structure, the same drumming style, same guitar playing style and same kind of vocals. It might be due to bad musicianship coupled with crap influences I guess. But even the technical bands sound like a competent version of the bands that can't play.
I live in London now, but am aware of my hometown, Hereford's local 'talent'. Here's some of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxEYxm35UOg
We also have a new local 'Black Metal' band with the obligatory cliche'd black metal song title:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtMHyvOLZPo
We also used to have a local lot called Figure of Hate who are perhaps 'famous' for having Ellie Goulding's brother on vocals for a bit (he plays funk now from what I've heard). They've broken up since anyway.
Either that or pretty every band I encounter always seems to do sludge. Its not all bad but come on, there's too many of them in this country! |

That was me...and I agree with your assessment. Sometimes I'm like "where do these bands come from?" Then I saw that the video is from Fresno and it all made sense. |

Man, what is with that crowd? Are these short hair weekend warriors the usual for these shows in Toronto? Not that the band was much better. |

We had a black metal band whose name I forgot. They even had a profile on M-A that has since been deleted. Their biography read that they had exactly one demo, but it was destroyed when their vocalist accidentally stepped on the only copy.
A friend even knew that guy. A shame I never got to meet him. _________________ Black Ivory Tower zine | Website | FB |

The shitty shows we're talking about in this thread, yes. Shitty bands usually only have dweebs for fans, solely due to facebook faggotry. Those people dont exactly know whats good, so its not like you get shitsmears like that showing up to any of the good shows, especially since theyre not on any facebook friends pages of anyone who actually knows whats up.
People who arent tools have better things to do with their weekend than show up to bullshit shows, so I imagine that the turnout there was 98% faggot. |

I guess on the "bright side" it's not like there are many interesting shows... Absu and Hawkwind will be the only two shows I've seen this year, which is sadly the average number. Looking back now I've been victim to this shifting door price a number of times. |
I just hope that IF Destroyer 666 ever decide to come by again they will forgive T.O. for Inertia's bullshit and have somebody (or multiple somebodies) step up and run their show properly. |

There are a few really terrible bands out here, but for the most part we just have a lot of extremely generic bands who play 6 shows or more each month and disappear a few months later. There's also some big egos and band beef aired out every couple weeks for one reason or another. |

This looks straight out of the UK Black Metal scene. Bands who want to score that record deal by showing how much they can work a crowd in semi-professional music videos. If it weren't for their Norse-obsessed love for clichés, they'd almost be apologetic for playing Black Metal. _________________

fucking Mabon from switzerland. saw them ages ago when they organized a show around here. they've literally made Mabon crew, Mabon Security, Mabon Fan and Mabon Mabon shirts for the whole staff of that event. it took them 30 minutes to set up after the opening act. then they line checked, even though I'm sure they sound checked all afternoon and ultimately had to "get dressed" for another 30 minutes. 1 hour waiting for a show that I'd sum up as "slapstick comedy". they knocked up some pyro (NOT plural) and managed to fuck up a song twice, but not being shy of starting it again, and again, and again. there was a headliner too, but I left before as that happened. |

In total agreement with the above. I could count the UK bands on one hand who play live that I give a shit about. I despise the likes of Eastern Front, Abgott and Primitve Graven Image. Fucking worthless. |
