the BoB version is a half-assed piece of crap

This can be said about anything they've released. I only own a few records on BoB because there's no affordable alternative on vinyl. But when I get the chance, I'll replace them all instantly.

I have the Belus and Absu vinyls from BoB - they're ok, but their old norwegian BM reissues suck ass

The HLTO and Filosofem reissues I own are basically pointless in my eyes - I only got them cause the originals cost like a million pounds. I was happy with the CDs already!

I'm thinking the same or should I say I'm having the same first world problems.

the Gorgoroth Agonia reissues are good enough!

I have Pentagram and Antichrist for sale for 10 each if you want them?

I was curious about which reissues or versions in general are recommended for Venom's Black Metal and Welcome to Hell if I don't want all the extra demos and junk included on the BoB pressings? Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Those newer Immortal discs have copy protection that prevents them from being read in certain players and computers. Otherwise they sound like the originals. Earlier presses aren't too hard to find or too expensive, so I'd try to find earlier versions. However it is charming that the reissues still have all the typos and wrong song orders of the originals.

Surprised no one has mentioned it yet (though someone brought up the recent Earache reissues generally) but the Morbid Angel "Covenant" "full range spectrum remastered" or what have you -- that sounds fantastic. Much better than that fuzzy-ass mastering job of years past. It's about goddamn time. Gatefold. Comes with a turntable cover thing, which no I'm not gonna use but it's nice to get an extra...

1. Master's Hammer - Ritual 2013 Reissue on Jihosound Records

Because it sounds fucking AWESOME and the gatefold looks awesome. And it was pressed by the band themselves, which is cool

2. Sarcofago - I.N.R.I 2013 on Greyhaze Records

True to the original, good sound. no complaints

3. Darkthrone - Soulside Journey 2012 Reissue on Peaceville

First reissue that wasn't a picture disc, true to the original, good sound

4. Entombed - Left Hand Path FDR Reissue

True to the original. Sounds pretty damn good to me, other might disagree though

5. Beherit - Drawing Down The Moon 2009 Reissue on Primitive Reaction

Good packaging, nice thick vinyl, great sound quality

6. Ulver - Nattens Madrigal 2009 and 2010 reissues on CM

original artwork, good sound. fuck the 2012 2xLP 45 RPM shitty packaging one.

If there is anything I fucking hate about reissues, it's when they fuck with the artwork and put a bunch of stupid ass bonus material on there. Labels need to just STOP doing that immediately.

Anyone got any opinions on the 2002 repressings of Reek of Putrefaction and Symphonies of Sickness? With the recent FDR represses it made me curious about the quality on the versions I picked up years ago. These are the only versions of the albums I own/have heard, so opinions on the sound would be apprecaited.

Iron Tyrant's Mortuary Drape- 'All The Witches Dance' is way better than the original. In fact, I sold my original soon after getting it. Same goes for those Inquisition tome reissues. If there's a sufficient demand, reissues are necessary, provided they are given the proper treatment visually and sonically (i.e. proper mastering etc). Keep good music available and affordable!

Lots of good ones mentioned on this page like the Beherit and Mortuary Drape reissues.

I'll add the Pagan Altar "Mythical and Magical" repress... that thing is beautiful and sounds fantastic.
