The debut album of british Antinomian is finally out on vinyl through Nachtgnosis. "Nihilum Infandum" made a similar impact as the debut albums of Svartidaudi and Isenscur, which is quite an achievement in my book.
Many will probably lazily compare the band to the middle-era of Deathspell Omega but in my opinion Antinomian created their own sound and feeling. It's definitely worth hearing. The opening song can be heard on their bandcamp.

After initial struggles "Nihilum Infandum" has grown on me a lot and the album hasn't lost its charm even after several months (even though I may have not been listening to "Nihilum Infandum" as often as to some other albums I have reviewed during the last year). Strong moments have enchanted me and those few shortcomings stay in the background, not spoiling my listening experience. If I compare ANTINOMIAN to other "young" bands like Svartidaudi, Pseudogod or Mare ,who in my humble opinion shall one day stir the very foundations of black metal, I must say that these Brits stand close behind them. But who says that they won't create something astonishing as well? There is potential...
With their debut album ANTINOMIAN have set out towards their own sound into the pitch black spheres of death where many bands have peeked but didn't dare to enter.
8/10

Checking out that streaming link right now. I can see the comparison to Deathspell Omega for sure (not a far stretch to make and no shame in it either if you ask me), but this has some legs of it's own indeed. I'm liking what I am hearing here regardless.
Going to listen to this a few times I think. May have to aquire a copy of this. |

There does indeed seem to be a dearth of distribution since it came out, though I suspect Bjorn has been immensely busy as I haven't heard back from him in a while. I've just emailed him to sort things out. Hopefully they'll be coming to a US distributor or two soon... _________________

Cheers, Guido.

No necessity for it at the moment whilst the LP is still in print. If there was a CD or cassette edition, the tracklisting would be rearranged to its original order. _________________

Behold the revelation of Death!
The time has arrived for our first and possibly only live ritual, of severance from the self, a prayer of bloodstained hands to the Divine and Sacred Nothingness....
For us, Antinomian is not something which we feel could, or should make any sensible coherence live; it is a personal, spiritual meditation which was not intended to be exhibited before a live audience, but rather a religious experience of Holy Death.
Nevertheless, we feel that this event would be an appropriate revelation but not one which we have any intention to repeat anytime soon.
Due to our closeness as a full band with SHEOL, we shall be sharing the same individuals for this exclusive event and will be performing "Nihilum Infandum" in its entirety.
Mors semper vobiscum, in corde, in spiritu...
