I pretty much love the ever living shit out of this band, Last One On Earth is my personal favorite but all of them are good, especially Embrace The Death. I've actually never listened to God Cries despite owning it. I remember offending some people greatly when I said I think their newer album Deathhammer has an atrocious production that makes it hard to listen to. It sounds compressed to hell and back and cranked up to where I can't tell what the fuck is going on. That is fine for goat pig war metal (and I do like some of that stuff) but not Asphyx. Maybe I'm wrong but that's how I remember it, it's sitting on my CD rack right now and I've no desire to hear it. Can't wait to see them live again this year however.

i like God Cries too, far from essential but not worth the ill repute it gets..

Most consistent dm band ever.

Together with Autopsy and Dismember.

Does Nihilist or Carnage count for consistency?

On the Wings of Inferno is underrated. Ripping dark Death Metal.

No deathmetal on this album, only tough guy hardcore.

"God Cries" album is NO "Embrace The Death", but is listenable.

"God Cries" was released during a specific period for Death Metal (Death 'N' Roll, so they call it...); a time when progenitors like ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, GOREFEST and even thee almighty PUNGENT STENCH (although I prefer "Club Mondo Bizarre" over the other 3 bands mid 90ies albums) were trying to write their own "Wolverine Blues" album.
Listen now "God Cries" is refreshing, cathartic different.

For some reason never really checked them out/ never was amazed by what I've heard, but that was years ago....where to (re)start?

ASPHYX is one of the main influences for NECROS CHRISTOS art in form of sound.
Both bands reign.

Crawl with the original / unreleased 1990 first album "Embrace The Death". Walk the Old School of Death Metal up in time.

Even thoug the leadguitarist they had on Embrace the death was a van halen and not a venom fan, they should have kept him. And even thoug Theo Loomans was difficult they should have kept him. So no suprise my fav is embrace the death.

But alot of theyre latter stuff is good too, and I aint saying that Drunen is no good, but I liked the more obscure sounding early works.

Good to see 'Embrace the Death' getting the love it deserves, it really is a great album. I never see too many people even mentioning it when it comes to Ashyx, or Death Metal in general

What is wrong with VAN HALEN? Question
George Emmanuel III (aka Trey Azagthoth) claimed in many interviews that Eddie Van Halen was a great influence in his Guitar work.

Theo Loomans Death... ... ...Car accident(?), right?

That is the real fucking deal right there. Those vocals on that album will never be able to be topped.
