No beating from me, I really like this album as well. Actually I like it much more than the previous one Necroticism. But Symphonies of Sickness remains my fave. |

Haven't listened to it in years, but used to a lot many moons ago. It's heavy as hell, great guitar work, good song writing...don't see why anyone would hate it. Most likely because it's the "in thing" and people like to hear themselves sound cool. There is not a person on earth that can listen to the title track and not get it stuck in their head. |

Also a fan of Heartwork. It gets kinda boring after a couple spins in a short period of time, but tis' good. Title track rules, fun to play too.
You have to look at this album the same way you would look at something like Reinkaos - you have to disassociate it somewhat from the earlier works of the band. That record owns all (now let the shit-flinging begin, haha), but not as a definitive Dissection record. Just because it is just 'Heartwork' and not 'Reek of Heartwork' does not mean it sucks.
Now - some bands have too far gone from what they once were and should be drug into the street and beaten; case in point In Flames. |

I'm sure that if you asked anyone close to Jon during his last few years off earthly existence, they will tell you that record IS the definitive Dissection record. Well, maybe not. They each stand on their own, but it is certain that it fully represents Dissection in it's last incarnation.
Thing is, people don't care for lyrical content or meaning and seem to not relate it to the music. They just want something to bang their head to. That's OK too, nothing wrong with that. But the concept behind Reinkaos fits the music perfectly. Powerful lyrics + powerful music. I can write a books worth on the subject of it, but who would read it? The concept just wouldn't have worked with some depressing atmosphere or melodies. Plus the illustrations Ketola did for it are amazing and the whole damn package works perfectly.
Thing is, Jon made the exact record he wanted to make, thus the opinions of others is pretty meaningless. |

Really?
The artwork itself is ok but i think it was misplaced as album art. _________________ Reliable Heathens - Astaroth, AtomicGrave, Bestial Aggressor, Blood and Thunder, Blood of Von, Chapel of Doom x3, Chit019, Jesus Iglesias, Piotr Sargnagel, S.charlach, vk666 |

I totally agree. I love the music, and the art, but it does not fit at all. |

I never even got into the first Carcass records, grind has never been one of my favorite styles. Heartwork has always been my favorite Carcass release. Definitely taken a lot of shit over that one. |
