I've taken a liking to the scarred people actually. It's alright.

Goth rock Tiamat is great. I think every album they released was special, the only thing I don't like about their discography is the production on Amanethes.. sounds a bit too compressed. The songwriting is stellar though, even the digipack bonus track is very good (it's also included on the vinyl version).

The latest album is quite good too, Radiant Star and The Sun Also Rises are probably my favorite tracks.. the cover songs on the digipack are also worth having too.

I'll go with The Astral Sleep since it was the first Tiamat material I heard for being easily available through Century Media, I only got to listen to Sumerian Cry years later, early '00.

Yea... +1
I for some reason kept thinking it will end up at HHR and I would buy it... then it never showed and I kind of forgot about it.

Would love to have this album on vinyl though myself.

I had to buy mine from CM directly. Too important of an album for me to wait for HHB to get it. At least they didnt put that stupid "vault" cover on it.

I'm surprised there aren't any Treblinka / Tiamat-worship bands.

I think the band ANGUISH on Dark Descent sounds as close to their early sound as I've heard:

Wildhoney is their most unique and imaginative release, while The Astral Sleep is my personal favorite Swedish death metal album. Sumerian Cry is decent if not really memorable, and the band's latter output while a little inconsistent I still get enjoyment out of Prey/The Scarred people.

What's the deal with this 2015 reissue going for 50$+ on Discogs? Didn't realize this album was so coveted...

Essential classic for me. Probably helps that this album put CM on the map, selling over 100K copies.

Nowadays I prefer the albums Astral Sleep, Clouds and Wildhoney. For raw death it's Treblinka.

As for Wildhoney, I wondered one day if the song The Ar was actually supposed to be titled The Aryan? Wink"The sign of the aryan race"

I may sound like a poser, but my vote goes to "Judas Christ". Damn, can't stand Edlund's vocals on any early material...

Why would you sound like a poser? Judas Christ is nearly perfect. Its only song I don't like too much is Vote For Love, but then again there are so many similar radio pop-metal hits out there that sound much worse in comparison.
